  1. It used to be for sale. IT reminds me of a synagogue in California near my childhood home. If I recall correctly it was 1.6 mil.
  2. My favorite Thai food in Houston is Thai Choice at Westheimer and Wilcrest, just outside the Beltway, SW corner. It's in a strip mall behind what used to be a Houston's (I forget the new name). Try the Panang (Chicken, Tofu, or whatever). Their soups are wonderful. The Sweet Basil dish will also keep you coming back. Many of us oil patch people out on the west side are very loyal to this place.
  3. Thats funny. The Ventana is one of my lease favorite structures in Houston. But I think that is because of the color. Strip that away and I think it may be alright.
  4. Would I get to watch gladiators being eaten by white tigers as I ate my shrimp brochette?
  5. Favorite is Indian, followed by Thai/Viet/Malay food. Currently looking for a good indian spot. Indika isnt my bag and India Restaurant is good but not great.
  6. I personally don't care for the building but I don't hate it either. Here is an old news story on it with some video that shows the demolishen of the Jefferson Davis. KHOU LINK
  7. I can just about smell the cannabis in that picture.
  8. Anyone got a short-list of what streets were left unfinished? How about Belmont?
  9. I don't get to read all the posts here but the Hardy Extension into downtown is news to me. Awesumm!!
  10. Yeah, I think it would make a great sports venue!!
  11. Willo- Good to meet you at the open house. Me and the wife went and looked at your place afterwards and absolutely love what youve done with it. Props to you. I like the Cliffwood house but even with the new reduced asking price it seems a little stiff.
  12. Well, life throws ya twisties. I ended up buying the place, fixing it up a bunch and then never moving in. I bought it in April, had floors torn up and the concrete stained, moved all my stuff in, went and got married, moved all my stuff out and into her bigger condo in uptown. And I never slept one wink in Montrose. So I put it on the market to sell or lease. Whichever works out. I'm in a lose/lose money situation either way. MY HAR
  13. ^^^^ LOL OMG... milk just came out my nose and I'm drinking coffee
  14. Most interesting. I'm suprised that it would only be 1 and 2 bedroom units. I wonder how many floors they are proposing?
  15. To preserve liberty I think we will always be at risk. Its the nature of a free society. My opinion is that we need to pay more attention to our policies abroad rather than our security at home. I'm sure I'm in the minority here though. It's hard to police the world and force our standards/ethics on others and not expect to put ourselves in danger. Everytime we make some change here at home in reaction to a terrorist action I cringe. Say we lost funding for public transport because of something like this... to me they've won just a little bit.
  16. There are all kinds of apartments. Personally I think nearly all major communities should have some apartment housing. For A) the help (har har!).. for temporary housing for things like waiting for your home to be built or seperations/divorce.. and to C) get the riff-raff out of my neighborhood and into yours. After my divorce I was paying more to rent a "luxury" apartment in Pearland than I would have paid to live in a similar complex inside the loop. I don't think the apartments in pearland are dragging down the cultural status quo at all. LOL.
  17. I stopped using the seti screensaver for my home pc back in March. Here at work they put up a firewall last December to prevent my evil manipulations of random space noise.
  18. Anyone know of a good map that shows most of the subdivisions in Houston? I am just entirely tired of hearing about this subdivision or that and having no idea where they are. My opinion is that many of these subdivisions are very loose terms and hard to quantify because of local misnomers and overlap. Like say part of Gessner that one person calls Whispering Oaks, another calls Tealwood and another calls Bunker Hill. Any help is appreciated.
  19. If they worked more on mobility in the uptown area I'd like it about 50x better. They should put an underground tram between the galleria and this beast. Hell, I'd use it just to cross westheimer.
  20. I loved the tour as well. Mainly the Tiel Way houses. My favorite was the one for sale but at 1.7 Million I wasnt looking to investigate further. That one house with the asian artifacts was really cool too. Everything based on the triangle like the Mitchell house. So whats the story? (nudge, nudge)
  21. Another open house scheduled for July 10 2-4.
  22. I used to check here hourly but now I log in about 3 times a day during the week and check new posts. I probably read about 1 in 4 posts just because I don't feel I have the time to read it all. I have alot of favorite posters and I tend to look for their posts. I probably reigned in my reading here some about the time 27 took off.
  23. Well, mines not on the list but I guess you could cover it in the "shower" header.
