  1. This is exactly right, in my experiance they are virtually worthless (and why they are so cheap up front) I wouldn't be surprised if the realtors get a commision for pushing them.
  2. This is where I go to see other people protest: zombietime that photoblog is as close as I want to get to protestors, and in some cases TOO close. Who knows some of these *#!jobs probably live down the street from me in suburbia, and thats OK.
  3. I live in Cinco Ranch and work in the Westchase district. I do not use I-10 hardly ever, if I do it's on the weekend. same with the westpark tollway which I use more often on the weekend. I can travel straight east/west on Westheimer Parkway and Westheimer to just off Wilcrest where I work. Even with all the lights it takes me anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes on average. I believe it's about a 12 mile drive to work for me, about 5 of which is driving through the Barker resivoir which I enjoy in the mornings.
  4. To the OP, as far as the title and description of this thread, 1. By definition all teams only have one Ace pitcher. 2. Roy Oswalt has been our worst pitcher on the staff. He has given up 21 hits in 12 innings and has a 6.00 era. But it's early. the bright side is the rest of the starting staff has looked good and are exceeding most peoples expectations. Though this has not translated into wins yet, as we have faced some tough starting pitching to start the season especially in San Diego thus they have not scored enough runs to make the game easy. Lets see how they do at home. I hope Oswalt is not injured
  5. I live in Cinco 1 and my house is one there It was trash day and the grass was a lot browner then it is now. Kind of cool.
  6. anyone care to produce a map that defines Cinco 1 and Cinco 2. what are the current and projected buildout numbers (number of homes for each section) Thanks.
  7. I took a botany class while at San Jacinto JR College. On a "field trip" our professor injected formaldehyde into tallow trees she couldn't rip up from the root. She told us she always did it. I too used the little fruit for slingshot ammo, good times..
  8. The only entity that has the right to annex Houston ETJ is City of Houston. Katy ETJ can be annexed by City of Katy. This development has land in both ETJ's I believe.
  9. My wife worked recently for Southhampton Montessori in the Rice Village area. Seems like a nice place. It's on Quenby
  10. sounds tacky and like a good reason for HOA's but to each his own. after googling it looks like something I would picture the Unabomber living in. Or when you drive through those really rural areas and see poor folk living in an old school bus fused with a mobile home or an old railroad cargo car. like such
  11. I remember the dark gorilla house, kind of scared me as a wee little one, and the monkey/ape cages in the middle, seems we had more chimps and baboons then. I do appreciate our Zoo though, probably should have not been free for so long, I love the park setting and the ponds, plants ,trees, and great volunteers. While my son is not old enough to appreciate it, We strolled through the expansive new (since I have been there last) children's area and petting zoo and that looks great. Ssullivan has a good point too about the size the zoo is allotted, there is only so much they could do with the area, and since they have started charging they have been doing more improvements in recent years. Lastly, for the money, in my opinion, it is a great inexpensive way to spend a day outdoors with the family.
  12. Park Place baptist. I went to the boy scout troop based there for a couple of years. that chinese restraunt was always nasty as far back as I remember it but that may not be as far back as you.
  13. Enjoyed a beautiful day at the Zoo. I thought I would share a picture or two.
  14. I drove by there a couple of years ago, amazing how different your memories are from reality. That circle seemed huge. I mean this is where most of our sandlot baseball games happened with the neighborhood kids. I remember shooting off model rockets from that circle and tresspassing to find the rocket remains in peoples yards. Getting chased by rabid dogs (chows) on our BMX (mongoose and huffy) bikes. Fun stuff like that.
  15. I was fortunate enough to go to private (church based) school up until 6th grade (what about 12 yrs old) when I was put in Deady. I was there for 2 years. I guess that would have been around 1988. It seemed as though it was 85% hispanic and maybe 5% caucasiun at the time. I went to elementary school at woodbridge baptist church well it was at Woodbridge and Winkler. I never ate at the Alpine but I bet someone from my family did. I remember Spanky's pizza for sure though. Oh we lived one block over from Joplin on Greenstone, not far from the circle on Joplin . Is this neighborhood considered Greenway? or Greenway village?
  16. thank god, my family moved out to the burbs when I was about 13. I would have been going to Jones High School. yikes! I had enough fun at Deady Jr High being punched around. So don't be hating on us flighters we had our own reasons. I think my mom sold our little home to about 2 households of immigrants.
  17. My first thought looking at it is, there is now way I would want to be in that thing on the highway. No way it would be safe in a crash.
  18. looking at the forclosure map you must mean North Katy (or actual Katy, not the South Katy area. The area between 1-10 and 1093 seems to be doing better than the north side of 1-10 or south of 1093. In fact there are bigger problems in the Sienna/missouri city area.
  19. Sorry, but Alief never looked like Cinco Ranch, (well, before it was developed it probably did) As you know, Cinco Ranch is a master planned community, so the comparison just isn't there. Maybe you could point out to me some upper middle priced enclaves in Alief but I can't see the resemblance. Why are you begrudging the fact that you have to live in "crappy plastic suburbia" would you be better off in Alief?
  20. A couple off the top of my head 1. Joe Dirt 2. The Boy in The Plastic Bubble (1976 John Travolta version) 3. Hotel Hell 4. Earth Girls are Easy 5. Squirm
  21. Just to clarify how do you define "doin yo' bidness"?
  22. I believe for a while this was a campround for kids in the early mid-ninties. I worked at the YMCA for a while in pearland and I see to recall a campground in that area we would take the kids to.
