  1. So you're the -*$hole ruining my standard of living that I paid top dollar for!!! just kidding, seriously I never thought of the dynamic of peoples self segregating themselves in a real estate sense. I mean I see it every day so it's obvious but the fact that you feel you need to guide a certain people into making decisions to better there lives and for the prosperity of their race. wow are you a real estate agent or Ghandi? I am confused though you mentioned that your black friends tell you about this underlying or open racism that is happening in predominately white neighborhoods. And then you say you are trying to steer them to these areas to better there lives. Do you want them to live where they'll be unhappy so they will be in a better real estate situation. Or do you want to cure racism by encouraging segregation.
  2. if nearly complete means 40%.... granted that is more than what is typically found I believe she is dated at somewhere around 3 million years if my memory serves me
  3. NO,No there is a walmart going in about 4 miles ot the south at bellaire and grand parkway
  4. Canyon Gate at Cinco Ranch is the name, not the other way around. In fact the entrance now just says Canyon Gate I think they were made to take the cinco ranch off the sign.
  5. I think they took the Cinco Ranch name off, because they are not affiliated in any way.

    Toys

I played alot with the figurines mixing and matching them in battles, GiJoe, StarWars, and I actually played with my brothers army men a lot too. Lego's of course alot, we had the various car tracks too. And stompers, anyone remember them? They were little monster trucks with a double AA battery in them to make them move and they had lights I think. I always ended up outside with these toys, except the legos and thats where a lot of them probably ended up buried. I was always making forts or caves in the ground for them. or tying on a makeshift parachute out of a bandana onto the gi-joe men and tossing them in the air or a tree as high as i could. good times....good times..
  8. Any news on who will land as as our new offensive "corrindinator"? Couldn't resist, sorry.
  9. I might be the only guy on here that wouldn't mind David Carr back. I am all for more competition for his job and will be pleased if someone comes in and can be better than him. I of course want the team to take the next step forward and win more games, I just don't think they were there yet as a team this past year. Too many rookies starting and players on I.R. to overcome. I am also of the opinion though that too much emphasis is placed on the quarterback position in terms of making or breaking a teams shot at winning in the league these days. Sure the QB touches the ball on nearly every play and it's his job to distribute it. But he needs all the peices around him to work too. We had several games with no running game and others where we had no pass protection, plenty where AJ dropped numerous catchable balls. I think Eric Moulds was a bust this year and I don't think I've heard that anywhere. He doesn't seem to have the skills left to get down the field with speed anymore which is what should help open up our offense. Of course, that is mute if the quarterback has no time or pocket to even escape from. Of course this could be all on Carr's percieved lack of pocket presence and awareness. We all know you could look at it either way: it's on the injured o-line, or it's on the quarterback. I just won't be heartbroken if we have another great draft and free agent season and carr is still here, In that case I still see the team improving to .500 ball or better. I seem to have become a David Carr apologist because I have become annoyed with the baseless arguements of the talking heads on the local talk radio. With there undying support for Vince Young(who is a division rival) and how he single handedly leads his team back in games when in 3 out of 5 games it's his defense that has forced the fumbles and picked up the interceptions late in games and VY finishes it off with a 10 yd touchdown run to be proclaimed as the Leader of the comebacks and the savior of humanity. sorry for the long rant just wondering if I am alone in my support for whatever the Texans decide is right to get this team on the winning track
  10. The Cinco Ranch area is the kind of development you guys seem to be talking about. It more closely resembles the Woodlands IMO than any other area I can think of. "Located 32 miles from downtown Houston, Cinco Ranch is the brightest star in West Houston,a leader in the Houston region in quality growth. At Cinco Ranch, Newland Communities is constantly striving to offer home buyers the broadest array of new homes by leading builders, at prices from the $170,000s to over $1 million. Located in Katy Texas, home buyers will find Cinco Ranch full of traditional single-family homes in various price ranges, along with exclusive custom and estate homes, and low-maintenance lifestyle homes. We even have a unique lifestyle neighborhood for homebuyers 55 and over. Our 7,400-acre master plan devotes hundreds of acres to recreation. Part of the acclaimed Katy Independent School District, Cinco Ranch is already home to eleven Katy ISD schools. But most of all, we think it's our community spirit. It is the Cinco Ranch Advantage.", from www.cincoranch.com. I think this area including Neighborhoods like Seven Meadows, Grand Lakes, and all the Kelliwood development, will continue to support the energy corridor and the new hospitals. I live in Cinco Ranch and commute to the westchase area a 20 minute drive. This is a pretty big business district too that is close to where I live. And can support a lot of homes. It always boggles me that people seem to infer that every one who lives in the "burbs" commutes 30 miles on the freeways into downtown or somewhere else. I would never choose to do this.
  11. that quaterback for LSU looked pretty good last night. is it Jamarcus Russell?
  12. This is a bit of a wide statement, sure there are areas like this, but this is not the enviroment where I chose to live and I live outside Highway 6. In fact this seems to describe a lot of the area between the beltway and the loop. As I saw the market when I have shopped neighborhoods in the past, if you were spending anything less than say 145,000 in the current market in the "burbs" outside the beltway for new construction, your neighborhood may be in danger of the kind of decline you were talking about. It's hard to quantify why, but this was my opinion. Of course there are exceptions but this is what I found looking for the standard of living I expected.
  13. I used to live on Greenstone a couple blocks from Gulfgate mall. I have a lot of memories from my childhood going to some of these local restraunts and the area amenities. I am in my early thirties so I don't remember some of these places. Someone mentioned they went to Deady junior high, funny I went there before we moved to pearland when I reached high school age for friendlier schools. Thats where we discovered Big Humphries Pizza. Funny how this post tied all that together for me, I never would have known he used to be right down the street from where I grew up.
  14. what would you guys say if washington offered you clinton portis for the 8th pick of the draft?
  15. thats median income, we were talking median house price so again the median home price is $189,800
  16. I think if the Woodlands is on here than Cinco Ranch should be. In the zip code 77450 the median home price is $189,800 according to this source. This is not in Katy but KISD. Actually looking at a zip code map this only includes most of Cinco Ranch not all of it. It does not include some areas close to 99 and none of the area west of 99. Also this zipcode includes neighborhoods such as Grand Lakes, Kelliwood, Nottingham, and more
  17. Me and the wife tried out Swampy's sunday afternoon while we were out and about. We both liked it and wil go back. It was kind of dead in there but It was 3:30 on Sunday afternoon, only one other group in there at the time. I think that when that shopping center is at full capacity and the area more closely infills around said shopping center that they will draw more customers. I hope they make it the grub was good and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive and It's got a nice look inside like a Razoo's but smaller and a menu closer to Rajun Cajun but with more variety. So yall go try it out.
  18. 10% if they do a good job, Nada if they butchered it.
  19. Like Lufkin? Some of the people on this board really have a problem with people who live in these areas, don't they? Is it because you see these people enjying the city of Houston and it's ammenities? Or is it because they are clogging up the freeways by commuting in to town? Or is it because they are contributing to what you percieve as sprawl or creating ring-rot. Do you despise the "white flight" social implications of it? Is it because it is affeting your neighborhood? Is it all of these, or just some for different folks? I am just trying to understand the psychology of it.
  20. I also was wondering why they are "obnoxious" Katy commuters? What are you? An annoying commuter? just a point. There is no dispute that more people started using it alot from the area south of Katy, but why are they obnoxious? Just because they have inconvenienced you or because they are driving you off the road with their bad driving habits?

  23. no matter how frustrated you guys are with the texans offense as a whole or Carrs progression on a crappy team in a new system with an injury riddled O-line, you are foolish to think he is a backup i think there are plenty of teams in the nfl where he would be an upgrade over there starting QB.
