  1. I have to agree, this is why a lot of people moved or do move to the burbs (certain areas) the nicest areas they could/can afford. Count me as one does not want low income housing in my area. You are generalizing a bit here with your perception of all low income housing and what the poster meant by low income housing. To me though, we have to realize when we are saying things like we don't want low income housing near us, we are effectively saying we don't want a class of people to live near us(low income people)not empty houses of cheaper build quality. Does that say we are discrimitating and does that bother you. to discriminate is to (defintion) 1. To make a clear distinction; distinguish: discriminate among the options available. b. To make sensible decisions; judge wisely. 2.To make distinctions on the basis of class or category without regard to individual merit; show preference or prejudice: was accused of discriminating against women; discriminated in favor of his cronies. I'd like to think that we are employing the word in the sense of the first definition. but i have been accused of being a right wing fascist before(haha). I do think we should be more sensitive in our posts to the plights of others in the fact that anybody may be reading them.(i am so guilty of being closed minded and do not always think of these things myself),I just mean that "sttombiz" for all i know could be genarally interested in the Area and is pushing his budget to get into that area and I can sympathize with that. Cheers
  2. I'm going to my first Texans game tonight! Even though it's pre-season. I would like some advice as to where to park I might not make it to the stadium until 6:00 or 6:30. I do not have a parking pass. I heard I might be able to park north of the stadium and walk in through that hotel parking lot. Thanks for any insight.
  3. well the "apartments" north of the target will be called Sawyer Heights Apartments look pretty upscale from the plans i have seen is it possible to post a pdf here?? and how?
  4. Bennet signed with someone else yesterday, maybe Kansas City
  5. not relevant at all. but i can appreciate your desire for a more rural setting.
  6. For the curious, i heard from a source close the situation. that the family that was displaced got a cool million. i thought that was interesting
  7. i used to love going to that Spanky's as a kid. I remember occasioning the Dot always with my best friends family because they smoked and that place was always lit up like a chimney as i remember it. we would also hit the Brisket house on Sundays sometimes that was good stuff. I also remember going to a Big Boy restaurant with the big figure outside holding up a burger. was there one of these in the vicinity it must have been on 45 south if memory serves me?
  8. oooohhh, those evil suburban drive-thru lanes that made me laugh. are the bank drive thru lines evil too??? or are they not suburban enough, what the hell is that all about. "...CVS Pharmacies that can cater to the Chevy Tahoe driving crowd that are "too busy" to get out of their damn cars and deal with a person face-to-face" that ones funny too, those evil club footed tahoe drivers they are just killing you're dream aren't they... funny stuff
  9. I second that, Soccer 4 all has locations around town, (soccer4all.com) stores in or near rice village friendswood missouri city the woodlands spring bear creek kingwood
  10. for those in south/west Cinco or seven meadows it will be more convienient than dealing with the stop and go traffic going up mason or dealing with I-10 on the weekend. Besides I'm sure you know they always throw in a lowes within 3 miles of a home depot and vice-versa. nature of the beast. i would prefer to have one or the other. as they sell the same crap. i prefer lowes you really want an olive garden!
  11. sawyer height apartments right behind the target... those people were offered a lot of moneyand new homes, are still holding out.. too late i would say i don't know how much info i can give you about those apartments... thnaks
  12. i'll be ther up in the cheap seats too, 408 i think. At the risk of thread-jacking i hate theat the 1836 changed the name too especially with whats going on with all these immigrants protesting for rights they don't deserve. and alot of the naturalized hispanics are running around waving mexican flags. ridiculous and don't get me started on that principal at Eisenhower who raised the Mexican flag on the flagpole. He should already be fired!!! at any rate go Astros!!!!
  13. it's official the new team name is the Houston Dynamo. damn that sux could be worse but i really liked the 1836. Dynamo is hokey well you know, myself as a white soccer fan was pretty excited about this team and pumped about going to some games. And i play in a mens league game every week so i know the deographics of who plays this sport. but honestly i may be turned off by this now, not the name of the team, but i feel the team now belongs to the hispanic community and i am not alone. they have now alienated a lot of people the other way. i am probably being ridiculous but you know what i think it will have an effect and judging by some of the comments just on this website, people are pissed Another thing the timing of the press release is insensitive and insulting to all Texans. Today is March 6 and in 1836 was the day the Alamo fell to the Mexican Army led by Santa Anna.
  14. Ah this guys ignorant that's all. As much as we try we will not enlighten him. I wish everyone could understand that different people have different needs and desires in thier lives. But people in general are too closed minded to see past thier own front porch sometimes. This person has obviously not seen the kind of devlopment or quality of homes or the quality of life that we enjoy out on the far west side. And even when if they do travel out to Cinco Ranch their preconcieved notions will force them to find something insignifigant to further support thier biased.
  15. I make a good living designing these residential and commercial developments. So thank you very much. Let me get this right, you want everyone to live where you do and shop where you do right. Thnik about the implications of that, that is all.
  16. i remeber bowling under gulfgate mall. i was just going to post to see if i imagined it or if it was real, cool. I went to elementary school at the woodbridge baptist church next to the mall. So i remember going to a couple of movies at the gulfgate cinema too, i loved walking across that bridge over 610! most notably i remember seeing return of the jedi there, i'm only 29 in case you couldn't tell by how i might have aged myself. I remember going to the roller rink near almeda mall on the opposite side of the freeway from the mall. It's Cool recolecting these places. i remember the push races and most notably they would play jump by vanhalen and when ever he said jump guess what happened everyone jumped, funny. that was just the mid eighties i guess. and of course couples skate, where if you had any nerve you would go ask that little red haired girl to skate with you! haha
