  1. Houston's economy is growing along with its population and job opportunities. Wider freeways and more roads are not there to just benefit the everyday Joe. They are there to grow and support commerce in the city and region. Dont believe me? Next time you are on a freeway in a traffic jam, start to count the number of 18 wheelers and other large trucks. Im sure you will lose count very fast. Along with this growing economy comes growing salaries and lots of them. I cannot see those people readily turning thier backs on thier own cars by choosing less roads and supporting thier own personal daily use of mass transit. Thats absolute absurdity! Unlike many other cities in the USA, which rely heavily on mass transit, Houston has ample room for growth. We are not trapped in a bowl or a restrictive ditch which prohibits the growth of roads and highways. I have no objection to growing roads, highways and mass transit at the same time. I do have a strong objection to growing mass transit over roads and highways, especially when a decision like that would be based on a LIE.
  2. Holman St in 3rd Ward. Horrible bumpy road that should have been repaired years ago. Its a major avenue to get to UofH. Ugly because its dangerous.........Intersection of FM 1960 and HWY 249. Constanly covered with wrecks.
  3. I remember hearing about a year or 2 ago that J Will Jones' days are numbered.
  4. West Gray Cafe used to be good, back in the day. Dont know about now.
  5. This place sounds interesting. Im a sucker for large portions of good food at cheap prices.
  6. In the TwiLight Zone I agree to no end on this one.......
  7. What are you doing listening to this "old school" music This guy had a few other good ones as well. Im very impressed ;)
  8. Thats what insurance is for. Silly is the fool that builds/buys there and not have insurance. I hate taxes I can do with out the New Yokers as well :)
  9. I think this video was very well done! He used a really great old song as the back ground music. The images he uses are nothing short of fantastic. Sam Cooke was a wonderful singer. My boys call me "old school" when i play music like this, enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tjsz8VGXLqs
  10. I have toyed with the idea of having a weekend home in Galveston, specifically places like Crystal Beach-Jamaica Beach. I have concerns about the cost of insurance. Anyone here with a weekend home there can give me some insight on ins. cost for beach homes there?
  11. Very strange design for such a beautiful city. If you ever get the chance to go, i HIGHLY recommend it!
  12. The differenece here is, they are old and will be dead soon. Im more focussed on the younger folks. Thats where the changes are clear. I think we did a good job with our boys regarding race and race relations. They have friends of all types. We dont know what type of girls they will bring home to meet us as girlfriends-black-white-hispanic-indian-japanese-korean, and arabic. I think i have covered the different types of girls they have dated Now if they can only find some nice jewish girls to settle down with and give me some healthy grandsons to spoil rotten We covered the race thing with them from when they were young, they were brought up right. They know if i ever catch them using any type of racially offensive speech or engaging in racially offensive behavior, THAT WOULD BE AN OPEN INVITATION TO MY WRATH!! I guarantee you, they dont want that > Parents can do a lot to affect the outcome of thier children in a positive manner. As for the older folks, the banana peel is close at hand.....
  13. The one on Griggs is still open and the food is ok. Nothing to write home about.
  14. Careful, isnt LA about to riot and burn down, again, because of all that brotherly love Or the city of San Francisco pulling some other stunt to shut out members of the military or try and remove rights such as the right to bear arms---so much brotherly love on the west coast Portland killed anymore college students from Ethiopia lately?
  15. Well said. Conspiracy theorist run a muck is what this whole situation is. I work for one of the largest private equity firms in the USA and world. You should hear some of the garbage said about it from conspiracy theorist and other misinformed jackasses.
  16. On a Pittsburgh to Los Angeles flight back when US Airways was US Air, a mentally ill woman ran into the lavatory, stripped her top off, then proceeded to stab herself in the arms with a finger nail file. She put blood all over the inside of the lavatory and outter door when she came out. She twirled around in a circle and proclaimed she had the stigmata. Got us an emergency landing in Denver to have her removed and the airplane sanitized. I have had many others, but i think this one was the most outrageous.
  17. I didnt realize the cities of Dallas and Ft Worth have merged again. This seems to be an on again off again thing
  18. This is not a good idea Plastic. I think it wouldnt work. The Park&Rides are frequented by suburbanites and others that live on the edge of the city limits. These people are generally family oriented and do not frequent clubs in dwntwn to justify this sort of service. They are more likely to have BBQ's at home with family and friends on the weekends instead of venturing into town for clubs. The ridership will not be there to jusify it.
  19. We are NW side and it came down pretty heavy here.
  20. Bellaire seems to be more family oriented than Midtown. 2 seperate things all together. I dont think people with families tend to purchase townhouses over a free standing home and Midtown seems to be more townhouse/apartment oriented. I could be wrong.
  21. My favorite toy as a child was the Big Wheel. Started my fascination with driving. Being behind the wheel and experiencing the freedom and feel of the road, or in those days, the 8 car length long drive way of my parents house
  22. U silly goose I prefer to eat at home with my family. I eat out all the time when im traveling, so home cooked meals are best with my family and friends As for First Colony, hows the HOA there? Have heard some mixed things over the years.
