  1. There is a rumor Black Family Hospitality may also include a boutique hotel somewhere on their acquired Houston properties. The boutique hotel is in addition to the likely Terry Black's Barbecue restaurant possibly opening on the property. Has any of you heard something similar?
  2. Clé is no more. The day and nightclub located at 2301 Main St, Ste 400 is now known as The Encore. I don't know if the club is a rebrand by Clé Group or if it was sold it to another party. Being that this is one of their more lucrative venues, I doubt the group sold the club. Social media posts for Clé are advertising upcoming events at The Encore. However, their Instagram account still lists the venue as Clé. The club's Google Map listing was changed from Clé to The Encore. So, this may be a rebranding from Clé Group. I suppose some of the local news outlets will cover this in further detail as the club nears its opening in a few days.
  3. Nice catch, @hindesky. Thanks for the update. Documents recorded to the county clerk's office indicate the 1301 North Shepherd Dr property was sold in late January. According to the warranty deed, 3L Shepherd LLC purchased the 1301 N Shepherd parcel. 3L Shepherd is a subsidiary entity of Black Family Hospitality. Black Family Hospitality is the group behind barbecue restaurant Terry Black's Barbecue ( Terry Black's BBQ ). So, what may be a Houston outpost of Terry Black's Barbecue will occupy the following parcels: 1301 N Shepherd Dr 1311 N Shepherd Dr - former home to used car dealer H.E.D. Sales Co. 1325 N Shepherd Dr 1327 N Shepherd Dr 1329 N Shepherd Dr 1331 N Shepherd Dr Lot next to 1331 N Shepherd Dr (no address listed on HCAD) 1332 Laird St 1334 Laird St 1336 Laird St 1338 Laird St 1340 Laird St
  4. 1301 N Shepherd Dr is off the market. Documents recorded to the county clerk's office indicate the property was sold last month. The 1301 N Shepherd Dr property is adjacent to the other parcels Black Family Hospitality purchased a few years ago: 1311 N Shepherd Dr - former home to used car dealer H.E.D. Sales Co. 1325 N Shepherd Dr 1327 N Shepherd Dr 1329 N Shepherd Dr 1331 N Shepherd Dr Lot next to 1331 N Shepherd Dr (no address listed on HCAD) 1332 Laird St 1334 Laird St 1336 Laird St 1338 Laird St 1340 Laird St It's likely 1301 N Shepherd Dr and the aforementioned parcels may be for a future Houston outpost of Terry Black's Barbecue.

  10. Correction: Based on the above site plan posted in November, Suite D is available for lease. The suite was home to Kale Me Crazy, a health-focused restaurant chain. It appears Kale Me Crazy has been closed since late 2023. However, their Google listing switches back and forth between open and closed temporarily. At present, Kale Me Crazy is shown as open on Google Maps, but it is permanently closed.
  11. An inspector visited 1040 W Cavalcade St recently (i think today) due to a 311 report. The site is the forthcoming home for cocktail bar Heights Hideaway. 13. Last week, Houston Business Journal published an "exclusive" pertaining to Sophie opening soon at Montrose Collective. Sophie is a rooftop bar and lounge from the group behind Ciel (4411 San Felipe, Ste 101.) According to Houston Business Journal, Sophie's estimated debut is late March 2024. Additional details for Houston Business Journal: Sophie is expected to fill a niche that is not currently offered at Montrose Collective. A source familiar with the deal said that while the development currently has tenants that offer wine and beer...“there’s not really a place where people can enjoy spirits before or after dinner.” https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2024/02/14/ciel-hospitality-to-open-cocktail-bar.html
  14. Correction: There were two Instagram accounts created for Sophie. Last week, the name for one of those accounts was changed to Sophiehoutx. I am assuming that one is the bar's official Instagram. Sophie is a rooftop bar and lounge for Le Ciel Hospitality. It's one of the latest additions to Montrose Collection. Sophie replaces Idle Hands at 910 Westheimer Rd. https://www.instagram.com/sophiehoutx

  17. I think La Fendee closed sometime in late 2023. I noticed the business was marked permanently closed on Google Maps sometime in November. Then a few days later it was marked reopened. A few days after that, the listing was marked temporarily closed. It was like this for almost a month: one day it's marked open, the next it's listed as temporarily closed. Around January, La Fendee was listed as permanently closed for good.
  18. A photo of Heights Hideaway's forthcoming digs at 1040 West Cavalcade St. The bar' owners provided the photo to Houston Food Finder.
  19. Houston Food Finder published an article today about Heights Hideaway. 22. There is a 311 report for 1040 W Cavalcade St. Someone reported unpermitted work on the building. Looking through the permit database, there isn't a building permit or any kind of permit for current renovations. According to @TXK, the building will soon house a cocktail bar named Heights Hideaway.
  23. Thanks for the updates, @TXK and @sterp. According to Heights Hideaway's website, this a cocktail bar from the owners behind The Post / The Post Beer & Wine Garden in the Sunset Heights neighborhood (6417 N Main St). Looking forward to Heights Hideaway's completed renovations at 1040 W Cavalcade.
