  1. Do you live in Rice Military? I saw an episode with a tin house from that neighborhood. It is hard to explain the outside of it in words.
  2. Correct. Original name of Chase Tower was Texas Commerce.
  3. Houston1stWordOnTheMoon=Moon Too long to type out. You may not agree with it or think it is worthy of discussion and too many people try to make it an ugly word but I guess you do not understand the idea of a secular government. It is not intolerance. It's common sense and affects us all and one of the many reasons why i love this country. With that said, I will do you a favor and just shut up.
  4. I don't get what was so funny with it either. I will admit Ian's thought are very cliche and most people try to find a middle ground, so I am trying to find out what amusement "Moon" gets out of it. All I have to say is, what if "Moon" was in a more developed civilized Muslim nation such as Egypt, would he feel the same way about religous tolerance or does he see a convenience factor of calling America home and "everyone else" just has to deal with the feelings of the majority? With that said, I do not know "Moons" religous persuasion.
  5. That's what happens in any country where a religion makes up atleast 60% or more of the nation and most people see their views as universal and make a "secular" reason to try to justify it. It is the same reason why you hardly see any Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist televangelist. I am not saying ALL television ministers take advantage but there are too many that take advantage of this nations demographics. That's why if I am a majority of any group, I still try to cherish diversity. The lack thereof breeds ignorance and supremacy.
  6. I DEFINITELY cannot picture it there. It seems like a number of places would have to be torn down for that. I know the block has Whitney on one side and Stanford on the other. Do you know which side of the block?
  7. Although they have their obvious differences, the first thing that came to my mind was Calatrava's 80 South Street proposal for Lower Manhattan. I could only picture this building in between Kirby and Shepherd. It would be nice if it was 2727 Kirby's neighbor.
  8. Anyone have any other info on this potential project? The only info I can find is on the link:
  9. This is interesting. Question: If you lived near Memorial Park and you worked in downtown, would you leave your car at home even if you had to hop on three trains?
  10. I have always had these feelings about the GRB. Inside and out. The reaffirmations are even worse when I see the park u/c in front of it. I always thought it would grow on me but the more I see it I always wonder what was the architect thinking with such a high profile building. The building is not even forward thinking for the year it was built in and I never understood those red circle vents on the outside of it. The most frighteningthing aspect is how they cloned the original design just a few years ago.
  11. Are you being ugly just because you know you will go unnoticed or are you just reeling bait?
  12. OK, Sacramento is not too bad, but what is before (San Francisco) and after (mountains of Lake Tahoe) makes it seem extremely subpar. I was kind of upset last month when I took the exit to go off into the city and ended up in traffic that would make someone suicidal coming back to San Francisco.
  13. I usually blow off these list, but that list is PERFECT. I don't know about Sacramento though. The only thing I disagree with are the reasons.
  14. I usually think comments like these are exaggerated or out of ignorance but ugh, I stay out of this area at night, even sometimes during the day, for the same reasons. It's mostly west of that area though.
  15. Does anyone know if the architect has changed on this project?
  16. Well of course, there are people moving in and out of the loop everyday. Of course these new developments are geared towards the Dual/Double/Disposable Income No Kids people, so in some areas the density change may not be as drastic.
  17. Wasn't it suppose be near that Eleanor Tinsley Park or Memorial Park? I believe it was around 500 ft actually.
  18. I was doing some calculating, and it seems like if most of these developments go through, Oaks District, West Ave, Hardy, Sonoma, Regent Square, and high street (innerloop mixed use), and they are pretty successful with filling up, it can add about 12,000 new residents (give or take a few) alone to the innerloop by 2012 atleast.
  19. I know you just posted the article, and I get annoyed myself when people ask this when news just breaks, but is their a possibility that there is a rendering for this one. Only reason I am asking, I feel I have seen it before. There are just too many renderings for TMC projects that are actually breaking ground, it is hard to keep track of 'em. edit: nevermind, this sounds like a new one. Methodist has a similar building currently being built for the same purposes.
  20. It's simply more controversial. Whoever thinks there is not a battle in the black community about using "______" or any other langauae that lowers someone else's value is just speaking mainstream ignorance and is simply observing the issue rather than digging deeper. I do not agree with Al Sharpton on EVERYTHING, and he can be kind of regressive on some topics, but to easily blame him of hypocrisy, and not read up on his outcrys of liberating African Americans when dealing with the "N" word, "stop snitching", removing homophobia in the black church, and other issues plaguing the black community, is simply taking the easy route of ignorance.
  21. Not wide like some commercial streets or the sidewalks in downtown or most of the TMC, but more narrow sidewalks. For example: Not too visible but you can see them some on the right.
  22. Some of the stores may be visable from the sidewalk, but you still have to walk inside the lobby area I believe to enter. If you are familiar with the Calpine Center in downtown, it is built the same way. I guess if they made the retail more inviting, they would have to make too many sidewalk alterations for aesthetic purposes. If you haven't noticed, some of the sidewalks on the northside of the Medical Center around the Hermann station are like neighborhood sidewalks.
