  1. The two times I went by there I was hoping to talk with one of the workers to see if they knew what they were building but they never came close enough to the open gate where I was.
  2. Looks like the crew must have finished removing the equipment inside.
  3. So I talked with the NRP site superintendent, he said it will have a precast parking structure using a crawler crane to assemble. The apartments actually have a name, "The Point at Bayou Bend". At some point they will doing sewer and water hooks up that will require closing Middle St. to traffic. He said they will be having up to 200 trucks a day bringing material to the site.
  4. Met the mural artist doing these new murals at Tony's Bar Supply & Liquor at 5021 Canal St. His Instagram name is "Meenr_One" and he has murals all around town. He also did the murals next door at Big Dawg Customs. https://www.instagram.com/meenr_one/ Big Dawg Customs.
  5. "City Council unanimously passed the three party development and two other items related to the project on Wednesday. The city’s contributions include about $83.5 million in investments, about $36.7 million of which is reserved for park projects. That share includes East River and South Bank trails, doubling the area of Tony Marron Park, and a pedestrian bridge on Greg Street. The remaining city investments include a $19.5 million Hispanic History Research Center on Navigation, a $17.4 million capital improvement project with trails on Lockwood Drive, and $10 million for affordable housing. The city and county also will each cover 25 percent of maintenance and operations costs, expected to be about $325,000 a year. That will be covered with funds from nearby tax increment reinvestment zones." https://www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/houston/article/Houston-inks-its-part-of-transformative-Buffalo-17472648.php

  7. Driving sheet pilings to shore up the bank which looks like a bend in the bayou and could be compromised in a flood. I've been at a site where this was being done, they use either a large drop hammer with brute force or they use a vibrating device. The one I was involved in were hammered in, it's very noisy and quickly becomes very irritating.
  8. I bet no one would eat a hot dog, sausage or cold cuts if you saw how it was made. It's a work in progress, I always prefer to wait till the finished product is presented. 😳🌭🥪
  9. Looks like they are taking off the stone facade. Two companies appear to be involved in whatever it is they are doing, PEG and Postel who has already done work for Minute Maid. https://pegcompanies.com https://www.postelgroup.com

  11. Went to D&Q Beer Station on 806 Richmond Ave. I asked the owner if he had any Bad Astronaut beers, he said they sold out the first order but was expecting some more today. As we were talking the beer distributor brought in several cases of different ones. I picked up a six pack of the "Cruis'n Through" Helles lager. Haven't had a chance to taste it yet.
  12. Talked with the Highlands construction supervisor. He said the little wall behind the worker sitting down in the first pic is a planter box that separates the outside patio area under the awning from the parking area. The building will extend 12' to the north which will be part of the kitchen. The power line on W. Alabama St. is coming down and rerouted from the alley behind the building. The thing slowing down progress is getting permits.
  13. Talked with the guy who is building this project, he said they aren't going to demo the whole building and it will be a cafe/coffee shop.

But interim manager Sandy Weinmann was able to get KPFT broadcasting from Caroline Street on Saturday — a moment of celebration for the commercial-free, listener-supported community radio station."
