I think you have it all correct.  Just to amplify a bit, I'm pretty sure Mr. Crane has indicated that he is talking to/has talked to (perhaps they've already come to an agreement) Incarnate Word about including that  red-circled land in his project, I would imagine including the provision of some parking in the project for Incarnate Word.

Crane mentioned specifically about an underground garage so that they can develop on the land. He joked about having a close relationship with the church now since some of their nuns were attending the games.

Another article here about the theater...i wonder if they would want to make it be a 1 or 2 theater instead of the 3 it was....i seriously hated the upstairs theaters with the odd angles and small uncomfortable seats... so either open back up the upstairs to be a balcony as it was or turn those 2 tiny theaters into 1 theater that way there would be 2 theaters total. One of the most exciting things though is that i am sure (i hope anyway) that they will replace all seats with wider and more comfortable seats..like the ones they have here:

    💯

That upstairs theater was part of the charm to me, as well as that creepy bar…

More restaurants are interested, but it takes a bit if an investment. So they have been hesitant because of the short-term nature.  They expect at least a couple more will jump in now that they have another full year, and more would do it if/when it becomes permanent.

Also, they are very much interested in looking at other areas where this could be implemented.

Ahhh that makes sense actually.  Thanks for that perspective 👍🏼

  4. I’ve always loved this idea but at the same time I’ve been disappointed that I’ve only seen maybe 2 businesses take advantage of it. Also, when I’m DT I rarely see any citizens taking advantage either. Hopefully that changes soon.

A new Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing shows Austin-based bar Lustre Pearl is coming to EaDo's East Village development at 1291 St. Emanuel St.

The estimated date of completion is late fall 2022. So, it could open by the end of the year or early 2023 if there aren't any major delays, I'm assuming.

I wonder if it’s the vacant Eightytwo spot?

"POST Houston isn’t finished yet. Liu said the goal is to connect the rooftop park, which is open to the public, to Buffalo Bayou. Residential and office space is also not out of the question.."

I wonder how thats going to work, but based off of the job they did inside, I'm sure they will execute this well. Glad they don't plan on stopping!

Hmmm pedestrian bridge from the George Bush monument maybe?

For the roof of the GRB, the issue is what loads could be supported. There could be access by elevators inside/outside the GRB and from a bridge to a sculptural tower with elevators/spiraling ramp/stairs at the edge of Discovery Green. Possible ideas are:

    • Restaurants/bars around a lawn area with patios overlooking Discovery Green
    • Jogging, rollerblading, and kids’ bike loops
    • Dog park
    • Kite park
    • Mini golf and disk golf (probably not big enough for Top Golf)
    • Amusements, climbing walls, and parkour course
    • Sculptures and murals
    • Shade structures {perhaps solar panels - I think there are already a few)

I also think the general area would be great for a series of urban zip lines spanning between buildings over Discovery Green. Possible end points (and elevations) are:

    • One Park Place (500 ft)
    • Hess Tower (460 ft) - maybe using the old wind turbine cells
    • Skanska 1550 on the Green (410 ft and lower heights)
    • Marriott Marquis (395 ft)
    • 5 Houston Center (360 ft)
    • Hilton Americas (320 ft and 300 ft)
    • Partnership Tower (130 ft)
    • George R. Brown (about 100 ft)
    • Marriott Marquis Pool Deck (about 1 00 ft)
    • Final landing on roof of building in Discovery Green - (30 ft)

Perhaps an existing company that operates zip lines could assess the feasibility. It would be a unique attraction for Houston.

I’m sorry we don’t do unique attractions here 🙃
