At least one of the spaces previously home to former Tim Love dining concepts is leased.

Gaspachos is coming to the Kirby Grove mixed-use development. It replaces Love Shack at 3709 Eastside St in Levy Park. The Houston food truck is known for its Mexican snacks and fruit drinks.

I don't know when Gaspachos will open.

They’ve been serving the park from their food truck for a little while now, doesn’t excite me for my taste but good for them. Now we wait to see what replaces the Woodshed restaurant.

Went for dinner last night - food was good - drinks so-so.  They had sports on all the TVs but had extremely loud rap music playing - they eventually turned the volume down which helped a lot.  It is also a hookah bar so lots of smoke....

They said they haven't had their grand opening yet and are still working through the menu which only has limited items right noW

    Lost me at hookah 😢

Wow this entire thing is dead. Like, not only are almost all of the stores gone but there's literally no one walking inside anymore. Talk about eerie.

Edit: Found this Facebook post. Not sure if I'll be able to share here:

I was here a month or so ago on a Saturday afternoon and there was a good size crowd.

  4. They could have at least matched the font they used for the MMP sign. My hope is maybe they have plans to add something there next off-season or in the future. Maybe that’s the plan seeing how they went minimalist in the area where the trees once were.

I’m still relatively new with the drone part. Not so new with the photographing and post-processing part.

DJI Mavic Air 2. I chose it because at the time it had (I think) the highest camera resolution (48 megapixels) for the money AND the drone is smart enough to prevent me from crashing or losing it. The Mavic Air 3 has a better camera and probably more bells and whistles, but it’s also pricier.

Appreciate the input! I would use mine strictly for fun as I’m nowhere near a photographer.

I've never understood the "outrage" over the advertising on the Crawford Street outfield (the proceeds of which, it bears repeating, go to community charities).  Why do people pretend that other ballparks are not covered in advertising, especially in the outfields (and, yes, that include the Yankee Stadium)?  Oh, and, if they haven't done so yet, you can also expect the Yankees to be signing a jersey patch sponsor agreement.

Well, we know what it looked like before all that signage for one thing. Also, most people on this forum care about design and architecture and when the stadium was built this certainly wasn’t the vision. It looks like a mess.

There's always more that can be done. Maybe a rooftop park? Better pedestrian access into EaDo as part of NHHIP?

To me, though, the biggest thing I would love to see happen with GRB/DG is more/better street food via food stalls and the like. There are several expensive sit-down restaurants around the park (at least one of which is legitimately excellent), and there are some vendors in the park selling popsicles and chips and such, but it would be nice if you could get legit (and reasonably priced) shawarma, gorditas, jollof, panipuri, boudin balls, sambusas, baos, etc., in the park or convention center.

I appreciate POST and Bravery for what they're doing, but I still think it is too easy for an out-of-towner to spend a weekend here and leave confused about why Houston is such a celebrated food city. I'd like to see Downtown in general do more to put "real" Houston food front and center.

All great ideas- I wonder how feasible a rooftop park actually is?

I think if they would finish off the rest of the building with the clear glass facade (replacing the dark glass) the way they did the middle part that would make a huge difference. Replace the white columns with the red as they did in the middle as well, and voilà!

You’re being jealous.  Don’t be.  Dallas is always a “follower.”  I can list five or 6 things that they’ve done after Houston (and usually better) but the area around GRB is doing just fine.  That part of downtown is thriving!

No doubt the area around GRB is the best part about the whole thing. I’m a sucker for cool renderings I’ll give you that ..

  9. How do we feel about the remodel of the convention center years later? I have mixed feelings myself. On one hand I absolutely love what they did at street level and the added glass facade, but part of me feels like they could have went bigger and better on the rest of the building— part of it still feels dated to me when you look at it.

I'm asking because Dallas released plans to redevelop their convention center and it’s really  impressive. Do y’all agree or am I just being a tad bit jealous?

I don't know for certain, but I have a hunch 3303 Richmond Avenue will become another outpost for Zoa / Zoa Moroccan Kitchen.

Following CultureMap's report on Velvet Melvin's closure last year, I kept my eye on what may become of the property. A few weeks later, I noticed Youssef Nafaa purchased the property. Nafaa is the restaurateur-chef behind Zoa and Bella Restaurants Group (Mia Bella, CoCo Crepes Waffles Coffee, and others).

Nafaa disclosed a while back he's focusing on Zoa's expansion. With locations in the Washington Corridor and Bellaire, it makes sense he may have plans to bring the restaurant to the Upper Kirby area. I asked Nafaa about this last year, but he declined to comment.

Maybe his plans for the property will be reported in the coming months.

The other suite will be a Coco Crepes— Looks fairly close to completion as well.

That seems like a lot of work for not much more space.

Right? but I think it says a lot about Crane that he’s willing to spend for even the slightest improvements. He’s added to the stadium every year he’s been an owner and I love it!

  12. I didn’t think much of this place until I heard that their goal is to provide healthy Meals at affordable prices so I looked up their menu and oh boy they weren’t playing about affordable prices. $3.24 breakfast burritos, $6.24 Salads—both with protein. $1.24 24oz iceed coffees and teas. I’ll definitely be checking them out.
