  1. There is a place out in the desert near Vegas, where you can go to get deprogrammed. It is not easy, but it can be done.
  2. I used to walk all through the Addicks Reservoir that is now Bush park, west of HWY 6 back during the First Gulf War. At that time the National Guard would periodically train in that area. Well, at least 6 out of every 10 times that I would return to my truck there would be a sheriff waiting for me. He would try to tell me that I was not allowed in the area, which was bull. They would then try to scare me by saying that I should stay out because they have allot of murders and hijacking in the area. Hell, the only folks that I would ever see was the damn sheriff. The whole area is public park and should be open to one and all.
  3. Just the other day a woman was playing with a pit bull in the front yard and a cop wondered by and decided that the dog should be shot so he pulled out his gun and shot the woman. What a world we live in.
  4. He going to take the money and buy some good Maui weed and sit in the middle of the oval office with Rham and load up a big bowlfull in his new bong and get soooooo wasted. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  7. In response to Chicago's loss of the Olympic dream, today's headline on Drudge says it all. THE EGO HAS LANDED
  8. I had lunch at Beavers, oh about a month ago. I had the daily special which was sausage sandwich. It was quite good. The price may have been abit much. I had beer to drink. Overall, it was good.
  9. What do you all expect from someone who hails from the great metropolis of London. I am not sure that any city in America would get a fair reporting from this bunch.
  10. Didn't we already try a mayor named Brown? I seem to remember that that did not work out too well.
  11. Hey, I have been wondering about Peter Brown's TV ads since I saw the first one a couple of weeks ago. He goes on about adding police, etc. etc. What I find odd is that the cops that are shown in the add are not Houston cops. They have black uniforms. He made no effort to make them looks like Houston cops. I saw Parker's ad this morning and her cops look like Houston cops, with blue shirts not black. This is nit pick, but at least Brown could have made the effort.
  12. The first place I always check out when I hit a new town is the jail.
  13. When telemarkers call I do one of two things. If I have the time I drag the call out and ask alot of stupid questions so that I can waste as much of their time as I can. Other times I just set the phone down and walk away. I hang up the phone when I here the disconnect screeching sound.
  14. These arguments are proof that evolution is optional for some individuals.
  15. I think you guys are getting confused. Yes, consumers in Houston get their power from the Texas grid. Yes all of the windmills, solar cells that are connected to the grid contribute the power supply. But, the grid in huge and the renewable component in tiny, but getting larger. The point that I made is that those who sign up for "renewable" or "green" plans are plugged into the same grid as their neighbors who are not signed up. They both get the same power. Chances are that the electrons coming into your house were bumped into your house by the nearest powerplant. In Houston that would either be a natural gas powered plant or the ST Nuke.
  16. Here is the story in the NYT. They have different numbers. Houston has long been the country’s oil and gas capital, but some business executives say it is only a matter of time before it becomes a center for renewable energy as well. That aspiration may be about to come one step closer. The lead story in The Houston Chronicle on Thursday reports that NRG Energy, the big wholesale power generation company, may be delivering a considerable amount of solar energy to Houston as soon as next year. Under a proposal due to be announced in the next several hours, the city would purchase power for its buildings from a new NRG solar energy plant to be completed in July. Its 10-megawatt capacity would be the largest in Texas, and would provide as much as 1.5 percent of the city government’s power needs. The plant would employ thin-film photovoltaic solar panels. Issa Dadoush, the director of the city’s General Services Department, was quoted by The Chronicle as saying, “Houston always talks about being the energy capital of the world, but we’d like to see it transformed into the energy conservation and renewable capital.” The contract still needs to be approved by the City Council. Council members will need to consider the costs of solar energy, which are normally higher than other forms of energy. But supporters say it is wise to diversify energy sources, noting that electricity prices had spiked in recent years after hurricanes damaged local natural gas production and processing equipment.
  17. There is a lot that is not said in this press release. Such as: How will this deal benefit the average consumer of electricity in Houston? Will this offset only the "City" electric bills? What is the formula for awarding the Renewable Energy Credits? What does the "City" currently pay for power? Most consumers in Houston who have signed up for renewable power sources such as Gexa Green and Dynowatt still get most of their power from the South Texas Nuke Plant. Your money actually subsidizes the renewable power that is generated and used elsewhere.
  18. Not to be picky, but Pronto is not in City Center. It is within the adjacent Town & County Village.
  19. Here is a side branch to this thread. How about putting the Pierce Elevated underground, a la Boston's Big Dig? I would cost a ton of money, which would all be phoney since it could be stimulus money, and it would probably flood 2 to 3 times a year, but what the hell.
  20. My wife and I ordered a Veggie Pizza in London once. Don't ask why. But this damn thing came with corn on top. My wife went nuts on the waiter about it.
  21. I think that an overwhelming majority of the land in these areas is not owned by the current residents. They only rent from a relatively few landowners who often are out of town.
  22. Goddamnit, that made my ears bleed - How much of my tax money was pored into that gal's education? We need to get a refund.
