Marriott Marquis: GRB Convention Center Hotel At 1777 Walker St.
EllenOlenska replied to Subdude's topic in Downtown
We do have lots and lots of land, and prohibitive land features warrants more creativity--and height. But I'm ecstatic about the Northeast quadrant of downtown--southeast of Main, northeast of the Park.- 2,096 replies

Since I started checking this forum I've been let down by announcements. So perhaps they're trying to uplift me by just building without an announcement

Sorry for the ignorance, but in the (theoretical) highway realignment downtown, what would this 45/59 location look like?- 282 replies

Eighteen25 Downtown: Multifamily At 1825 San Jacinto St.
EllenOlenska replied to Urbannizer's topic in Downtown
I think Houston is filled with faintly "imprisoning" looking facades, some I like some I do not. But (and maybe I'm being generous) I think the Cathedral handsome when taken in from a distance.- 285 replies

The Travis: Multifamily High-Rise At 3300 Main St.
EllenOlenska replied to Urbannizer's topic in Midtown
On the subject of tall buildings in Midtown, I'm trying to work this out: there is this redevelopment, the office component of the superblock, and the handsome Louisiana at Anita block, and of course this (http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/30772-residential-high-rise-proposed-for-midtown/) which may or may not be this.- 604 replies

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.

You know that melancholy feeling when you're excited for something that you think you should be disappointed in. -

EllenOlenska replied to editor's topic in Downtown
I agree, Utterly--the rendering has some odd features: it creates a handsome view for a brief moment only to be obscured by the highrise and become a view of an alleyway. I wonder if something is supposed to be in that crevice--like a line of hedges or something. -

I'm probably naive, but if 45 was buried, this might be quite the marketable corner. I imagine that that concept I saw on paper, perhaps earlier this year was just that: conceptual.- 282 replies

If I may say, I'm a little more excited about the prospects of this one--perhaps because it will be more or less connected to the Northgate development. A few pictures of the site.
