  2. Thanks! I've been awaiting for updates on this. But I'm really excited for newer progress photos of the renovation.

No there should be a process where the city exerts some muscle on these film flam developers who don't seem to care about the crap they put up. It seems like there are plenty of vacant lots in the burbs for these dirt bag bottom dweller developers to disfashion and destroy! I thought I'd use a little alliteration for emphasis.

Another addition to Uptown Park in Houston: A restaurant from J. Alexander's. The article does not detail if it's J/ Alexander's or a new restaurant from the group. J. Alexander’s Holdings, Inc., owner and operator of a collection of upscale restaurants, has signed a lease to open a new J. Alexander’s/Grill restaurant in Houston, TX. Lonnie J. Stout II, President and Chief Executive Officer of J. Alexander’s Holdings, Inc., said the new restaurant will be located at 1180 Uptown Park Boulevard in Uptown Park. Plans for the new restaurant call for approximately 8,000 square feet with seating for 200 guests. Approximately 90 full and part time professionals will be employed to operate the restaurant. “We're pleased to announce plans for our newest J. Alexander’s/Grill restaurant,” Stout said. “The signing of this lease culminates months of extensive research to identify a premier site in Houston. We expect to begin construction immediately with an opening currently scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.” The J. Alexander’s/Grill restaurant in Houston is being designed by Shea Architects, Inc., Minneapolis, MN. http://www.digitaljournal.com/pr/4201408

I had many good time at the Belvedere. I don't think it's like what it used to be, but I'll miss its presence.

I bet it will be enclosed but better to have on the exterior than taking up space in the main part of the building. I'm bet it will have an interior elevator too.

That being said, setback and parking requirements haven't gone away and definitely contribute to this nasty disappointment.

  15. An updated site plan was uploaded very recently to Lovett Commercial's website and included in an updated brochure. https://www.lovettcommercial.com/properties/houston/1818-washington-ave- (archive link) Brochure: https://www.lovettcommercial.com/Pdf.aspx?id=332 (archive link) The updated site plan has two new retail tenants: Punch Bowl Social - a fancy bowling alley and restaurant (similar to Pinstripes and Bowl & Barrel) Sola Salon Studio Although we've known about the Optimist ( the seafood restaurant from chef Ford Fry), the site plan confirms the forum's previous speculations of the restaurant's location at 1818 Washington. The restaurant will be located in the 7,420 SF space on the corner of Washington Ave and Silver St. Punch Bowl Social will be two stories and fronting Center St. The first floor is 5,000 SF. The second floor is 15, 000 SF and will be the location of the bowling lanes. Sola Salon Studio will be on the second floor in a 6,190 SF space. Two years ago, Houstonia reported Punch Bowl Social was rumored for a Houston expansion: Punch Bowl Social, a food-and-cocktail-forward entertainment emporium from Denver, is rumored to be planning a Houston outpost—that is once a location is locked down. The retro spot serves as an adult playground complete with games of all kinds (think vintage arcade games, a bowling alley, ping pong, shuffleboard and more merriment). In addition to craft beverages and punch bowl creations, there’s a Southern-inspired dining menu designed by Top Chef judge and James Beard Foundation award-winning chef Hugh Acheson. https://www.houstoniamag.com/articles/2017/6/16/may-june-2017-restaurant-rumors-and-closings-houston Level 1 Site Plan Level 2 Site Plan Roof Deck site plan

An exterior stairway seems like a peculiar choice, especially for a clinic. edit: Answered my own question. 17. A drone shot of the 1818 Washington construction so far, uploaded to Lovett Commercial's homepage within the last week or three weeks. 1818 Washington Ave is part of the Sawyer Yards development or Sawyer Yards District.

Thats a shame. What a waste especially with Westheimer being redesigned. Our city planning department is stuck in the past and probably more responsible for these kinds of developments than anyone.

Before getting all the pitchforks, I'm going to guess this isn't owned by the same people as the ones who own the the strip center with Jus' Mac nearby, as they wanted to make a semi-contiguous structure rather than a completely different building that faces the front, which is why the right side of the shopping center extrudes outward to connect with the other one, which was built in 2004.

From a press release today about Uptown Park's renovations: Beginning in April of this year, redevelopment activity has included updating all building façades for a clean aesthetic, maximizing storefronts and brightening the exterior colors to modernize the consumer experience. The addition of trellises now span the property and provide shaded walkways that connect the buildings for pedestrians. Parking has been reconfigured to accommodate outdoor conversation areas for guests to unwind and socialize, as well as improved walkability and safety. Final details, including soft-seating and public Wi-Fi, will coincide with construction completion scheduled for late fall. Retail openings will continue into late next year. Newly announced retail also includes Rejuvenation, a Williams-Sonoma company offering classic American lighting, furniture, hardware and décor, will open later this year and will be the store's first Texas location. Rejuvenation joins Flower Child, an Arizona-based health-food concept by Fox Restaurant Concepts, scheduled to open September 12. "Modernizing Uptown Park into a social hub by adding new restaurants and retailers continues to build Houston's appeal as a world-class city. Coupled with our commitment to enriching this great community, seeing this transformation come to life is a great accomplishment for our EDENS team," continued Kiler. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/edens-continues-to-expand-retail-as-uptown-park-modernization-nears-completion-300702183.html
