  1. How about "The Rim" (1604 @ I-10) or "The Quarry Market" (281 @ Basse) in San Antonio?
  2. Looks pretty cool. Here is a satellite of that location, it looks like they'll also be turning part of the first floor of the diagonal office building into retail as well as building the 2 story retail from the ground. Link to satellite image
  3. I think Mike had an off shooting night as did Rafer. The difference is that Rafer shouldn't be taking most of the shots he does anyhow. Also, Tracy was taking some bad shots instead of passing, I wish he'd get over that. Fortunately for the Rockets this year, we have a much deeper bench. When 2 or 3 guys aren't playing well, we still have others that can be the spark. In this game Yao was awesome again, and Bonzi was the guy who came through off the bench. I dare say we might've lost this game last year due to our bench.
  4. Nope, I've got my facts right, and thanks for visiting the site. Type in 77382 as your zip code though.
  5. You can compare the personal vs. property crime for both areas by following the links I posted earlier. I'll do you the favor of checking out the cold, hard facts. Please see below: Sugar Land Personal (violent) crime: 24-32 Property (petty) crime: 35-36 The Woodlands Personal (violent) crime: 36 Property (petty) crime: 56 As you can see, Sugar Land is lower on both counts. What's your next argument? Are you going to point me toward YouTube?
  6. I guess you don't realize that Sugar Land is known for its low crime rate. Here are stats comparing the crime rate in Sugar Land vs. The Woodlands per 100,000 people (31-36 vs. 48). See the attached 2006 crime report for Sugar Land. Crime is actually declining while remaining over half the Texas average. Violent crime is declining as well and a mere 1/4 of the Texas average. 2006 Sugar Land Crime Report For comparison, here is Sugar Land vs. Houston (Sugar Land's crime rate is not even a quarter of Houston's): 31-36 vs. 125-371 Here is Sugar Land vs. Katy: 31-36 vs. 68-127 And for those of you who think Missouri City is crime-ridden, here is Sugar Land vs. Missouri City: 31-36 vs. 36-80 I think that proves that the SW suburbs are among the safest in the metro area. Not to mention that it was ranked #3 in the nation as the best place to live and #8 in the nation as the best place to raise your family.
  7. That's a huge crowd and a huge win, especially when we were down 1-0 coming into the game. Congrats to the team and the fans!
  8. To each his own. I think the best aspect of Sugar Land over other areas is the fact that most of it (First Colony specifically) is master planned. It is much less "sprawly" with much less traffic, less run down areas, and less "ugliness" than your typical suburb. You feel like you're in a town when you're in Sugar Land.
  9. No, because I don't like the way Luther is playing. He isn't a playmaker like Bonzi, Mike, and Steve. I think Steve is a better fit in this offense. If he can get in shape that is.
  10. He needs to replace Luther Head in the rotation, not Rafer Alston.
  11. That means it's working. Look, you started a thread on a very popular forum and now we all know about it even though we haven't seen the billboard. Brilliant marketing!
  12. Especially when the Texans bring customers to Reliant Park exactly 10 days a year and the Rodeo brings them approximately 30 days a year. Now why, may I ask, do these two groups who only bring in customers 40 out of 365 days out of the year get to decide what happens on the other 325 days?!? It's out-frikkin-rageous!
  13. Have you checked out the Sugar Land Town Square website? It has a lot of info on the stores, restaurants and events in that development. Also, here is the Lake Pointe website, there will be many townhouses, brownstones, as well as shops and restaurants including Whole Foods.
  14. I can't argue with that. At least now he has a host of better shooters to defer to. Hopefully he will defer.
  15. Look in one of two places. First would be the condos in Town Square. You can't get closer to the action than that. Secondly I'd check out all the townhomes along Grants Lake Blvd. It runs parallel to Lexington from Hwy 6 to Austin Parkway, it's real close to the mall, Town Square, and Hwy 6 @ Hwy 59 (the epicenter of Sugar Land). Both of these areas are in the 77479 zip code. I would expect your electric bill to be anywhere from $100-$150 in the offseason and $200-$300 in the summer depending upon how cold you like the A/C. Good luck! I hope you like it here. Sugar Land isn't usually an area thought of for singles but it's a great town, family area, and it has great access to Uptown, Greenway, and Downtown. Oh I just thought of something else, they are building new condos/townhomes in the Lake Pointe development at the N corner of HWY 6 @ Hwy 59 but they might be out of your price range.
  16. I guess you've been watching a different Stevie and Rafer. Rafer isn't horrible, it's just that his horribleness showed last year when he couldn't put up a good shot. Well this year he doesn't have to. Now we don't have to rely on his shot. He's great at not turning the ball over and making his teammates more effective. Stevie is an undisciplined player, he's erratic, and doesn't include his teammates in the offense as well as he should. I think that he can be ok with a role coming off the bench where we need a playmaker and a spark (like Mike James), however if you come into the season and you aren't in shape, you shouldn't be on the floor with the guys that are in shape.
  17. That's going to be hard when you're not one of the top 8 or 9 guys on the team. He needs to be proactive and find a way to show coach that he's ready. Unlike Bonzi last year.
  18. A-Rod "opted out" of his contract, therefore it is over. He is a free agent and will get a new contract. He'd definitely not worth $30 mil/year or even $20 IMO. However, watch for the Dodgers to sign Torre as their mgr and A-Rod to a bloated contract.
  19. I leave the house by 6:30 and get to work by 7:00, and I'm 3 miles off of Hwy 6 and Hwy 59. From that specific intersection you could probably do it in less time. However, the later you leave the worse it gets. I can't say how long it takes later in the morning.
  20. It looks like Minute Maid's move to Sugar Land is official with the sale of their building on St. James. Remainder of story here...
  21. Weather and perception. We think we did a great job in 04 but the weather sucked the first half of the week and while the parties were great and the Main Event was great, Houston doesn't have the perception, whether real or imagined, that Florida has (especially Miami). Dallas, or better yet Arlington, is even worse off on both counts.
