  1. Yeah, they looked terrible today. Earlier in the season I could see weekly improvement and I was very positive about the season. After the last 2 weeks, I've seen zero improvement and have little to get excited about here on out. I think we've peaked for the season at a level that is way below where I expected us to get. It's a shame, you can blame everyone on the team for today's loss, it was an embarassment.
  2. The signing of Carlos Lee and Woody Williams is a bonanza for the Astros! It shows that great players want to be Astros and that the Astros can attract great players. This news can only help convince Pettitte to come back, can you imagine the Astros next year? They can't help but improve. If by chance the Rocket came back, even for a short period, we could have Woody Williams (from Houston), Andy Pettitte (from Deer Park), Roger Clemens (from Houston), and Brandon Backe (from Galveston) all starting. Talk about home cooking!
  3. No salt needed. You proved my point. Arlington will never host an NBA All Star game or Finals and Dallas will never host a Super Bowl, MLB All Star game, or World Series. Do you get the point now? Houston has hosted each of these.
  4. Surely you're kidding? First of all the Titans vs. Texans is old news, nobody cares anymore, this isn't Cleveland. Secondly, we're more than proud of all 3 of our state of the art stadiums. We've hosted a Super Bowl, NBA, and MLB All Star games, not to mention the World Series in the past few years. Niether Arlington nor Dallas can claim that, nor will they ever.
  5. Hmm, here is what I found out. Whole Foods opend in Austin in 1980, Central Market opened in Austin in 1994, Eatzi's was developed in Dallas in 1996. Also, this is interesting (conspiracy theories begin), according to Wikipedia:
  6. Well, here we are 6-3, coming off a win, and disappointed. I guess that's a good sign. It shows expectations are changing. I really expected our first 10 games to end 4-6 and here we are with 6 wins in 9 games. Let's keep a positive outlook, I think this team is ahead of schedule. Once Bonzi gets into shape, Chuck Hayes comes back from injury, and T-Mac returns to his old self, this team will be unbeatable!
  7. I think y'all are getting upset over nothing. Someone else mentioned earlier in the thread how all this means is that we'll end up getting residential built on other empty blocks nearby this area. You can't tell me that there aren't other developers that wouldn't love to come in and build next to Houston Pavilions, Toyota Center, and Discovery Green. That's the trifecta!
  8. There's no space in Uptown. Keep in mind that a soccer field is bigger than a football field. A soccer stadium is no small structure like a basketball arena is. You've got to have empty space or unused space that can be claimed. I don't think you'd find any such space near Uptown.
  9. Might as well build it in SA. I really hope they don't drop the ball on this one. Let's follow Toronto's lead, not Dallas'. See info on Toronto's new stadium below.
  10. But the deal is, Houston isn't Dallas. I don't think Houstonians will (especially inner city fans) want to drive out to the 'burbs to watch a soccer game. It works in Frisco because Dallasites are used to driving out of town to see their teams play. Houstonians appreciate the fact that our stadiums are central. So did the USOC. I think this stadium needs to be build inside the loop for continued success. I don't think a suburban stadium will work here.
  11. Amici is now open! I haven't been but it looks really cool, it's got an uptown, hip look to it. The outer walls of windows that face Town Square open completely so that the whole restaurant is open to the outdoors. The tables are right on the sidewalk much like some of the restaurants on Jackson Square in New Orleans. Here is an updated list of openings: Now Open: Amici (across from the Square and Marriott) Johnny Rockets (across from Baker Street Pub) Kiss Kiss (across from Baker Street Pub) Learning Express (across from Baker Street Pub) The Right Start (near Chipotle) Coming Soon: Sweet and Sassy (spa) Dessert Gallery (near Chipotle) Mi Luna (corner of garage near Town Center Blvd.) Tacone Flavor Grill (first floor of garage, across from future high-rise condo building) Hemline of New Orleans (across from Baker Street Pub) Motherhood Maternity (near Sharper Image)
  12. It is still to be included in the Houston Pavilions project that has not yet broken ground.
  13. No, we have no preference over TAMU, ATM, Ags, Aggies, whatever. TAMU is more official, but that's all.
  14. While there is some excitement on this board for the Dynamo, myself included. I don't think the vast majority of Houston even realizes that there was a game played last night. I doubt there will be any hype leading up to the game this weekend. I do hope we win though, just to find out. Plus, a Houston team winning a championship in Dallas sprawl-land would be sweet!
  15. That's ok. The man made a quick decision after realizing his college days weren't all that great, he sent both his now millionaire sons to TAMU! He's more than qualified for the post. Anyone ever heard of Seth or Steve McKinney? Just ask David Carr.
  16. Wow, I'd have to call that a quick turnaround! The Rockets beat the Western Conf champs last night 107-76. Talk about getting blasted! Maybe we can turn this think around more quickly than I hoped. Yao for District 22 Rep!
  17. What the heck was that last night? I know they're gonna start off slow, but damn. That first half was terrible! We couldn't even rely on our defense. I sure hope they come around, I think they will, I'm just not sure I can hang around that long.
  18. I don't see how this makes semipro right. The Pavilions are still being built, there's just speculation that it could be pushed back again. We'll see. Anyhow, they're adding more tenants all the time, I don't see how this news spells the end of the project.
  19. I think my post was pretty clear. The building going up on this lot seems way too big for even a "grand" sales office. Therefore I have doubts that it is a sales office that is being built. Can anyone confirm what the structure they're building really is?
  20. This is what I don't understand, we know they aren't building a 42 story wood frame building, why are they building such a large wood frame building on this site? That building looks way bigger than a sales office needs to be.
  21. Or that the Cowboys were playing the Giants, the #1 media market in the world. Don't brag too much, that record will be broken this season. Moderators - Could we create a new thread on the Cowboys? Many of the responses have little to do with the Texans 2006 season. Thanks!
  22. Hmm, it looks a lot more dense than Midtown right now.
  23. While it's true that we beat the Spurs, Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli didn't even make the trip. So I wouldn't say we truly beat them. We look pretty good at times, I'm just worried that our chemistry will lack and we'll have a very slow start. I'm predicting 8-12 to start and then they'll kick it in. The bad thing is that you know Dallas and SA will start off strong, their successful nucleus hasn't changed. Oh well, I still think we'll get #3 or #4 in the West this season!
