  1. I just drove through Town Square this weekend, there are a lot of positive things going on: Now Open: Johnny Rockets (across from Baker Street Pub) Kiss Kiss (across from Baker Street Pub) Learning Express (across from Baker Street Pub) The Right Start (near Chipotle) Coming Soon: Amici (across from the Square and Marriott) Dessert Gallery (near Chipotle) Mi Luna (corner of garage near Town Center Blvd.) Tacone Flavor Grill (New to TX, not sure of location) Hemline (across from Baker Street Pub) Motherhood Maternity (near Sharper Image)
  2. Yeah, it would be nice if the plans included tunneling Crawford under the park. They're already building down for the garage.
  3. That's interesting, it sure looks nice. I can't imagine the final version would look like that though. Why would you build so high on the sidelines and leave the endzones open? I still don't understand where the extra 25,000 people would sit either. I guess we'll see once the team releases the final plans.
  4. As we all know, Reliant Stadium was the first (and largest) retractable roof NFL stadium. Now, where did you get the 100,000 number? I've never seen that one and the team isn't releasing the stadium drawings so I'm just curious what your source is. Thanks.
  5. How would you suggest a park be built for "all Houstonians?" I think it's a great idea, a great addition to our city, and will in time bring in new development on the east side of downtown. I'm so surprised that everyone is trying to find fault with a park that replaces concrete in downtown Houston, how is this a bad thing? I see nothing but positives.
  6. BTW, they are building a new stadium. Just not in Dallas, it's in Arlington, another mistake by the Dallas city council. Also, it's going to be a retractable roof 70,000 seat stadium, guess where they got that idea?!?
  7. I like it. This "Green" needs to be a unique place for Houstonians. I don't think "<fill in your choice> Park" would be very exciting. "Discovery Green" is a nod to our fair city's space history as well as a being a traditional term (Green). "<fill in your choice> Park" could be forgotten, glossed over, I don't think Discovery Green will.
  8. Let's see, the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in 10 years. The Texans haven't won a playoff game in 4 years. I like the Texans chances of not going another 6 years without a playoff win!
  9. Cool pics! Thanks for keeping us updated. Post more as you're able to, I'd love to keep an eye on progress without being there.
  10. Did you go back and look at the stats before we beat y'all in 2002? The Cowboys stats were better then too, because we didn't have any! We had never played a game before.
  11. Looks like the Cowboys aren't all they're cracked up to be this season. It'd be great if the Texans could finish them off!
  12. I think the receiver was in position until the ball was tipped. Once it was tipped it changed speed and the the receiver had to slam on the brakes causing him to slip and fall. This was a good play on the Texans part, admit it.
  13. That reminds me of the Jerry Seinfeld stand up where he's pretending to be a racehorse who runs slow because he doesn't want to get injured and be turned into glue
  14. This will definitely be a make or break year for JVG. If he can't win with these players, then it's time for new blood. I think we're a contender with this addition, as long as we stay healthy. This is good, now I can look forward to the season!
  15. So, with the preseason starting in 2 short weeks I thought it was time to begin the new Rockets season thread. Will the addition of Battier and possible addition of Bonzi Wells be enough to get the Rockets back on track? They were horrible last year but Yao and Tracy were both injured. I think if they're both healthy it doesn't matter who is around them, we'll be in the playoffs. However, to make it past the first round and hopefully further I think we really need a solid 3rd and 4th option. Battier helps, but we need at least one more. Bonzi would be good, though Mike James would've been great! Oh well, that ship has sailed. I pick the Rockets to finish 5th in the West behind SA, Phoenix, Dallas, and LA. Anyone else?
  16. I'm not sure what you mean. What view will be blocked?
  17. Yeah, Mi Luna is a pretty big score for Town Square. Especially when The Village isn't that far away. I didn't even realize that retail would be going into that section of Town Square (across from TGI Fridays), first level of the garage. I think it's great. We need the whole area to be vibrant and walkable.
  18. The SW corner of Ambassador's Way and Post Oak is the Stewart Title building (24 story high rise).
  19. The Empire is actually on the south side of Hildalgo, I was looking at the north side of Hidalgo immediately adjacent to the water wall. Between the water wall and McCue. Any other ideas?
  20. It looks like they've begun construction adjacent to the Transco water wall on Hidalgo across from Nordstroms. Is this the site for this 42 story tower?
  21. Go back on a Saturday night. That place is crawling with people. Don't think they built 3 large mulit-level parking garages for nothing.
  22. While I don't agree the team needs to change its name, I don't like the name and haven't from the beginning. At least our uniforms, logo, and stadium are top notch.
