  1. Yeah something has to be done about those tracks at some point. Elevating it would be great.
  2. Sucks losing some charming buildings but the overall improvement will be worth it
  3. Start now. CM Castillo spoke tonite at the Heights SN meeting. He said he will continue to hold Whitmire accountable for his actions. He talked about the lack of transparency and asked that each of us email the mayor about Houston Ave. He stressed that that's the only way he can have the leverage necessary to continue speaking on the issue. He also reaffirmed that people are not happy about the way the mayor handled this. The vast majority of Houstonians want these safety improvements. Let me be clear, all roadway projects are threatened at the moment. That includes Phase 2 of Shepherd/Durham, 11th St, North Main, etc. Take 5 minutes and let him know you are not happy.
  4. CM Castillo has been getting flooded with complaints about this
  5. And with Whitmire running the show the chances of it going away any time soon is slim.
  6. The Moxy seems to be doing very well. I saw people walking out last night and downtown was packed with people. Another hotel would bring more synergy.
  7. Yeah based off the market it will likely be residential or a hotel

  9. While I'm happy about the development, having parking spaces fronting the trail is stupid
  10. That's part of the mayors new public safety plan
  11. While the routing on N Main would have been great, we also have to look at how Metro has approached expansion. At the time, it made more sense to lay the tracks down in an area with less push back that would also serve low income neighborhoods. The same happened with the BRT lines. Metro could have thrown another light rail referendum on the table but it chose the cheaper route to get the ball rolling but I firmly believe the long term plan is light rail. Metros mindset is winning over the public first and then getting new voter approval for improvements, etc. And honestly it's working. The latest transit measure passed by almost 20% percent more than the measure back in 2004.
  12. The only solution I see is basically cutting all those pedestrian islands in half and removing the guided turns
  13. My bad I was just being sarcastic, but I agree, a fence would do wonders. I guess I'm trying to understand how a car got up there and police are just 2 blocks away .
  14. Wild how this area is getting so dense yet the residents don't want basic things like wide sidewalks or transit options. I mean I know why, but it's still ridiculous
  15. Damn Houston needs a better train station. I remember a while back the city had concepts of a multimodal transit facility on Main near Buffalo Bayou.
  16. Yeah because he's equating public safety to JUST crime. He's not realizing he has a responsibility to build a safer city. There aren't enough cops to force people to stop for pedestrians, to stop running stop signs and red lights, to stop speeding .
  17. Yeah there's gonna be some major tweaks to all of the planned routes, but I think he's willing to work out the kinks. He's all about "working together"
