  1. Based off of this building you get a good sense of the size of what's going on in Midtown.
  2. Went to Caracol in thr BBVA Compass building and Uptown is looking amazing! The new sidewalks, etc is really going to tie the area together. This development by McNair will really be icing on the cake.
  3. Once Westheimer is finished, the ability to walk from one end of the city to the other will be awesome! Now if they can do the same for Richmond Ave that would be great! Wasn't their word of making Richmond BRT?
  4. I'm simply speaking about how they are slowly building very cohesive development one after the other that's really starting to connect their neighborhoods. I also noticed fewer parking lots in many areas.
  5. Let's just pray they make it PEDESTRIAN! I just came back from dallass and let me tell you that they are doing a solid job building for PEDESTRIANS! It felt like a different city from just 10 years ago when I lived there.
  6. So they're building a pedestrian path from the Galleria to the park to connect the area?
  7. Maybe it seems small because they aren't building from the ground up, just renovating
  8. Well at least they're prepping the building for a tenant.
  9. I think you're missing the actual point. This has nothing to do with just some house. This is a foundation piece of the city. With so many empty blocks surrounding this property, why does it have to be this one to be threatened by another developer? When you destroy every little thing a city is made of, it's like building a new city every time and you begin to lose who you are. Houston is just now starting to build smarter but great cities add to what they have, they don't destroy what they have in hopes of the grass being greener on the other side, because it isn't. You lose history which is very important.
  10. “It’s fair to say the building is potentially in danger,” In other words, whoever buys the property has the potential to not care about its historical significance and demolish it. I'm also crossing my fingers but IMO the trend so far tells me there's a good chance of preservation.
  11. It hasn't even been sold yet so no it's not in danger of being demo'd. I think everyone involved with the building are trying to designate it as a landmark to prevent a future owner from demolishing it. I feel all of this is just precautionary.
  12. I noticed that the entire gas station has been fenced off with CLOSED signs all around. Anyone know what's going on here?
  13. Usually when I see people do this, they're from outside of Houston, like Katy, Tomball, etc. And they have no idea what a bike lane is lol
  14. It's a much needed change of pace when you consider the style of many of the other luxury apartment buildings. Great infill for 2 lots that have been undeveloped for forever.
  15. I really want to pull my hair out. Parking in the back would be ideal.
  16. I'm trying to imagine at least 5 more of these buildings with similar heights in this area. I would love to see every parking lot filled up in 10 years. That's just me being hopeful.
  17. BTW, after finishing his teaching degree, he went on to teach public speaking at Sam Houston High School, here in Houston. Wow that's awesome.
  18. That's true, he understood southerners and how to get their attention and speak their language.
  19. And I never said he didn't do a lot. I'm speaking on the man and his motivation for passing some of that legislation. He was a well known racist, that wasn't a secret and he didn't make it one. So. idk why you feel like you're the right hand man on all things LBJ but calm down. There's more than enough evidence to prove both sides or the argument.
  20. You may want to check your facts on LBJ. My Dad was in the war and told me countless stories about him. Yeah he did some great things, but he was a blatant racist.
  21. The Vietnam War was a political nightmare. LBJ had been quoted many times behind closed doors degrading minorities. The only way he knew to clear his name and distract Americans from the war was to try and settle the Civil Rights battle in his own backyard. Yes, tons of legislation was passed to distract Americans from thinking he was a racist. And Today we honor a man who only did those things for political gain.
