  1. Anybody know when this is going to breakground?

They haven't announced any buildings going up as of yet, they are currently working on the infrastructure for the project such as roads and utilities. I read in a Bisnow article that Ryan McCord said that a office building would be announced this fall, its suppose to be something that has never been built in Houston before. Also FMC Technologies purchased 173 acres within the Generation Park development this year so hopefully they will break ground on something soon. I imagine it will be some type of HQ or corporate campus since its such a large purchase.

Will this really destroy 1 million trees?

Seriously doubt it will be that many, the majority of the trees on the site are pine trees planted by McCord. The project seems like it will have a very wooded setting so I think they will only take out the trees that have to come out to build. Ryan McCord compares it to The Woodlands alot so i'm sure it will have alot of trees.

  2. 2-4 floors of parking would solve a lot of hassle at the Montrose/Westheimer intersection; i hope that's part of the plan. Very pleased to see that old eyesore be replaced by midrise. But back to W. Gray. The whole property will be pizza? Seems a waste. Does anyone know about the Shaw's people? I've heard gossip that they own both sides of w. Gray and built the new store so they could ultimately sell the other lot for midrise development.

Of course I've also heard it's all money laundering. Sources at barnaby's were still hungover and declined to confirm or deny.

Well since it is being remodeled and not being developed into a midrise, sounds like just gossip.

  3. The Mix would have been a really nice development for the Midtown if it was completely built out like that, only one section was completed with the 24 hour fitness on the top floor. The sites where the post oak tower & 1600 west loop south building were proposed, are currently on the market so hopefully developers will buy them and build towers.

  4. They should really gut that strip center. That's prime real estate. A mini CityCentre would fit that area.

I agree, I cant wait for that property to be redeveloped. I just hope it wont be a 5 story apartment building, unless it is above retail or commercial. Mixed use would be great on that site, especially it had some height to it. The views would be amazing.

  5. New townhouse community being built at the intersection of San Felipe and Revere. Will be 10 four story townhouses ranging in size from 5,000 square feet to 7,800 square feet and start at $2.2 million. Going up right across from the Winfield Gate townhouse development which started construction some time last year.

  6. My elevator guy just told me Shell is planning on building a 35-40 story tower in The Woodlands and that Anadarko wants to build another one too.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Just to clarify, my source didn't mention anything about height

So are these two different sources? Two different buildings ?

  7. Does anyone know home many residential highrises are currently under construction in Houston?

  8. I see quite a few new town home developments going up on the east side of main in midtown, but the only thing I see going up on the west side of main in midtown are apartment complexes. People are complaining about renters on the east side but that's all that's going in on the westside. So what's the difference between the renters on either side of main ?
