  1. Even more interesting is that according to the poster on Reddit, who confirms that it will be 16 story building with office and retail, also states that the developer is trying to get his office to move into the building so that the developer can purchase that block for another similar building. So that's another potential high rise for Midtown.
  2. Luxury is a very loosely used term now a days. Every new project going up is considered "Luxury" by the developers. It has become more of a standard term then a actuality. The true luxury properties will stay nice while the others will be low income or middle class. It's a cycle nothing new here.
  3. The view is at the back of the building on the Welch side of the building looking east.
  4. Wasn't the Ritz going to BLVD Place prior to the recession? With renderings released and all ? So why now is it so hard to believe that they will come to Houston ? Why could they make the numbers work then but not now ?
  5. Construction is still progressing, looks to be on the 3rd or 4th floor. Also the parking garage has started going up.
  6. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2014/10/new-details-emerge-for-multifamily-projects-near.html?page=all Alliance’s apartment project and townhome projects. Single-family homes by Pelican Builders, Inc. on 8.7 acres. Class A office and retail on 23.6 acres. The spec office projects include a four-story, 192,000-square-foot building and a six-story, 252,000-square-foot building with structured parking and retail in the front. Parks, creeks and storm and water detention on 27 acres.
  7. Pearl is building a apartment building directly across the street plus their two other buildings to the SW of this site. One completed and the other planned where the social security office use to be. Also the Camden complex to the NE. I think the GFR will do well.
  8. Nice to see Midtown get some proposals with height.
  9. @nativehoustonion anymore details about the 46 story highrise in that area, you mentioned a few weeks back ?
  10. "The Energy Corridor has become Houston's second largest employment center, with over 28M SF of office/mixed use space and another 17M SF projected by 2030." http://www.bisnow.com/commercial-real-estate/houston/3007-cre-pros-first-car/
  11. Name has been changed to Woodmill Creek. Alliance Residential is building a 4 story 380 unit apartment complex as well as 171 rental town homes. Construction could start this month. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/Land-prices-soar-in-Uptown-5797293.php http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20140930006808/en/250-Million-Development-Exxon-Mobil-Campus-Announces#.VDHw82K9KK0
  12. What a downgrade design wise . . . Atleast it still has some height to it.
  13. Wow Midway is doing an amazing job with City Centre. They just keep on delivering building after building. The architecture and design looks great, very cohesive. Other developers definitely need to take note, this is how mixed use properties should be done. According to Business Journal the new buildings will go directly north of the 15 story building it is currently constructing. So it has to be the parcel with the 3 older office buildings surrounded by Town & country Blvd, Town & Country Way, and I-10. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2014/09/massive-citycentre-expansion-to-include-new-office.html
  14. I completely agree. Of course the renderings of his buildings look nice but the end product not so much. I mean look at how the Cosmopolitan turned out. Looked good on paper not so much in real life. Titan looked great but it was never built. The jury is still out on Astoria the renderings are amazing but will the tower turn out the same ? Just have to wait and see. But I think it will end up being a disappointment.
  15. http://www.usa.skanska.com/News--Press/Display-news/?nid=HMTrk4Wm "Mair noted that an additional benefit of the site is favorable height restrictions that allow for unobstructed views of the surrounding area as well as high visibility for tenants." So do you think this means that the buildings will have some height to them ? Or that they will be short?
  16. I really hope not, that is one of the ugliest renderings I have ever seen. The buildings look so out dated.
  17. I haven't seen anything on HAIF about it. According to both of these articles Skanska made the announcement today, so I think it should be up to date. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2014/09/skanska-to-build-huge-office-development-near.html http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2014/09/skanska-buys-14-acres-in-north-houston-for-office-space/
  18. Will probably be similar to their West Memorial Place development in the Energy Corridor. It's about 700,000 sqft on 12 acres in a 12 story building and a 14 story building.
