The River Oaks Plaza building. Can somebody, for once, make a rendering that shows a new building in context with other buildings? These are nice buildings, but the renderings look naked and Le Corbusier-esque. Edited February 10, 2023 by 004n063

I just think they'd be much more effectively advertising their own buildings, which inevitably look better in context. Also, proximity to other stuff is a selling point. You could always snub the details to make the other buildings look blander. But, to me at least, any of those renderings would be much more appealing if it showed a dense neighborhood. (Not that my broke-ass perspective would be of any consequence to developers, but I doubt I'm alone in this...) hindesky
I figured Arcosa/Cherry would be doing the demo once they finished the Fairfield Oliver demo, it's just a just a hop and a skip away.

Popular Post hindesky
Spotted the Arcosa/Cherry Demolition excavator on site. Stopped and talked with the workers who said they will be starting on Monday. They also said the asbestos abatement workers are finishing up and will be gone in a day or two. They confirmed they came from the Fairfield Sawyer Heights demo on Oliver St. They also said that Arcosa bought out Cherry a couple years ago but are just now starting to change the name.

hindesky
Just as I suspected Fairfield is going to use the little lot between the townhomes and Jack In The Box for their construction trailers. It was part of the purchase of the Women's Houston Center property.

Texasota
To be fair they also blocked the sidewalk. heaven forbid they block a lane of traffic to maintain access for everyone though...
jmitch94
Developers have pretty much free rein in this city. The tower at Chimney Rock and San Felipe routinely have almost all lane shut down for construction. Probably a year or two to answer your question.
