  1. Does Hines use multiple different architects for office projects? They use Pickard Chilton a lot, right? I wonder what their crowned towers look like. Edit: A few: Houston knockoff (current fad) https://www.pickardchilton.com/work/canal-place Japan https://www.pickardchilton.com/work/y2 Gag me https://www.pickardchilton.com/work/pinnacle We know these, nice, of course https://www.pickardchilton.com/work/four-seasons-place What could have been, The Woodlands https://www.pickardchilton.com/work/town-center-district
  2. Totally misrepresented my statement. I'm not for flat roofs, I'm against copy cat designs. This one, Amegy and Hine's all even slant the same direction.
  3. It's nice and I like the rounded corners, but is the slanted roof quickly becoming the newest generic design for Houston?
  4. They worked fast. All the signage on the south side was up around 1:30.
  5. Maybe so, I'm sure they have a pragmatic reason. Just doesn't lend itself well aesthetically.
  6. Pedestrians will get to behold the beauty of the tower's parking garage, or more likely half-vomit their schwarma from Phoenicia's.
  7. There is a garage entrance on the west and north side. Why not put the north entrance on the east side which faces the Toyota Center garage? Instead it's facing the park. Doesn't make much sense to me.
  8. Glad it looks good at night. Hoping the day time view is nice, too.
  9. I agree. Will rents be too high for current vendors?
  10. McGuff reported on Hoffman reporting it: http://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2017/06/charlie-pallilo-1560-kgow-espn-975-kfnc.html
  11. Per Ken Hoffman on twitter a few weeks back, Charlie is going to be on 1560 Strange though that the Chronicle hasn't ran a story on it yet.
  12. I have not kept up with this thread, but are there others who are severely underwhelmed by the tower portion of this project?
  13. Was that taken early in the morning? It seems this won't have much shade except at that time and also late afternoons.
  14. They do. But I think self interest is a big reason as to why they're making this so nice, since so many of their properties surround it.
  15. One of the main reasons for the gaps is this viewpoint is perpendicular with the grid, so naturally the towers will hide behind one another. You probably already knew that though since your criticism does seem to be directed at the viewpoint itself.
  16. Aren't all three of these Houston buildings? It looks like DG tower in the back, with Chevron on the left and a tower I don't know the name of on the right.
  17. Just spoke with a construction employee. He said they gray is for the mortar joints, but that it would be restored to the original green color--flat, no gloss. He said they tried cleaning a few but they were in worse shape than they thought and he also confirmed many were crooked, which I'm guessing will be corrected in this process. Said they'd be done very soon--guess that's relative from a construction employees point of view though.
  18. Apologies, wrong address. My description is for 37 N. Jackson. Is there a thread for that building?
  19. A week or so ago HPD was talking/citing homeless in the morning that were sleeping here. As of at least this past Tuesday, there was a fence on at least the east side of the building. I didn't see the rest, but I'm assuming it goes all around.
  20. Glad they decided to keep with the historical architecture of the area -- warehouse. JK, love it.
