Triton
In another recent transaction, apartment developer Trammell Crow Residential acquired about 4.5 acres nearby at Yale and 6th from a longtime owner who has operated an industrial facility on the property since the 1940s. The developer is building a large multifamily project across the street. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/Popular-corner-of-the-Heights-goes-from-industry-5748823.php

toxtethogrady
That photo tells so many development stories, only one of which is that the Alexan Yale project is starting. So many recently minted or under construction rowhouses and so much infill. And they all look like Monopoly Houses. How the Heights is changing. HeightsPeep
I see one huge apartment complex going up at 6th/7th and Yale. Is there another project slated for 5th and Yale/Allston? What is the status?
RealEstate
Yes. Trammell Crow Residential purchased the former Fixtures Unlimited site last year. They're planning on building a second project, the Alexan Yale.
Urbannizer
http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/Economist-says-city-s-east-and-west-sides-could-6051418.php?t=dd64cfe95c&cmpid=twitter-premium#/0 As the apartment market heads toward an expected slowdown, Dallas-based Trammell Crow Residential is about to start its second complex west of downtown in the Heights. "What drew us to the Heights is the proximity to major employment centers," said Scot Davis, the company's senior managing director of development for Houston, adding that barriers to entry help limit competition. "It's difficult to find a multi-family site there."Construction is expected to start this month on Alexan Yale Street, a 378-unit complex with four stories of apartments over two levels of parking, one below grade. hindesky
Really surprised no one has been reporting on this one. The crane is up! I saw it Friday morning while shopping at the new Sprouts on Yale and took a bad picture of it, I bet it's the crane from up the street at 6th St.

BigFootsSocks
The other block has been stuck on the first floor for a few months now, but there's been some progress in putting up support columbs this past week. They might finally be gearing up for this one, though it's weird that it's sat like this for so long.
