I had an employee at my dress shop (no longer have said shop, thank God) who was describing a dress on the inventory sheet as, "Size 12 purple evening gown with silver sequence."

My older sister, who normally is quite well spoken and writes well, wrote me that after the storm she came into the house "sop and wet." Huh? (sopping wet)

I looked into an older thread and decided to put my findings in my signature...

I asked the Question; "I didn't know the English burried Plaque victums in Houston... ?!"

dbigtex56 responded quite appropriately; "Yes indeed. The British have suffered terribly from poor dental hygiene."

"I want my daughter to have a good job and not bounce from PILLOW to post." I bet.

"Your new haircut took 10 years off your life!" Quick, glue it back on!

"You should have let the tea SEEP longer to make it stronger."

Don'tcha love 'em?

The mechanical errors and eggcorns seen in some many posts on this forum are no worse than those found in high school students' essays.

Believe me: I speak from experience.

Hey, thanks loads for the eggcorns link. What a hoot.

I'm sure you are right about the goofs being no worse than high schoolers', but most of us here are past that phase (some of us WAY, WAY past) and should know better and maybe even care to do better.
