Goal Park uploaded the following presentation to the website which includes all the design strategies for the park.

The construction you see happening is relating to the TIRZ 15 Fitness Area. This was approved before Goal Park was brought to the table, but the two parties are working together to see how it can be integrated into the design.

The master plan should be coming out soon.

Goal Park Presentation

The designs seem quite preliminary right now, but the mere fact that they are suggesting closing those street crossings to vehicular traffic is  pretty awesome. The time to traffic-calm East Downtown is now.

I don't think that's the plan. My interpretation was that road humps would be installed where the street meets the trail, which paired with the curb extensions would effectively slow traffic.

Has this new light rail station been confirmed elsewhere or is this being proposed by the Goal Park group?

It was one of the projects that TIRZ 15 was considering funding. There was a station proposed for here originally, so a significant amount of groundwork has already been done.

That's good to hear. This is a logical location for a stop and with all of the development planned within 4-5 blocks on McKinney it would be well-used.

It would be well used if the purple line would improve its frequencies - especially on weekends. But I agree completely - even without timetable changes, this stop would get more use than the Leeland stop or the Stadium stop (outside of gamedays). Would be nice to see more apartments go up in the immediate vicinity, though.
