kristiw Posted June 21, 2007 Share Posted June 21, 2007 HAIF, I heard rumors there was a race track (speedway) in the 1970s that was called Port America Speedway that was formatted as a 1/4 mile paved oval track. Does anyone know about this? I have tried searching Google countless of times and had no luck! Is this race track just pure internet speculation? Maybe it never existed? While searching on Google, I did see a company located near Buffalo Bayou and Clinton called Cooper/Ports America located at 2315 McCarty Street. Could this be apart of the supposed Port America Speedway? I went onto Google Earth and Historic Aerials and could not find an oval track at that location. Please help! I came to HAIF knowing the knowledge and information this group has. Thanks. Edit: I wonder if Port America Speedway was a nickname for the track. Maybe I cannot find information because the trace was actually called something different? Was there an alternative name for this race track?
