@hindesky Did that meeting cover the five "sub-projects" mentioned in the plan review permit?

I don't know how to see the contents of the permits themselves.

I don't think there is any way to see associated sub-permits, until the permit is issued.  On the Houston Permitting Center website you can search for permits in the Sold Permits Search section, under the link "Search the last 3 years".  Once you find the permit number, to see the plan review status go to the Project Status section and click the link "Plan Review Status".

"Houston-based Concept Neighborhood has landed three new tenants for its The Plant in Second Ward redevelopment project.

Kido International Preschool and Daycare, Slowpokes and Crystal Yoga will soon open locations in The Plant, the real estate investment, development and management company said."

  • Kido / Kido International Preschool & Daycare is leasing a "7,600-square-foot space."  Based off the address in the article, Kido will be located in Headquarters, the coworking space at 3302 Canal St.

  • Crystal Yoga is leasing a 2,500-square-foot location that will also include retail. The article did not include the address.

  • Local coffee shop Slowpokes is leasing "a 2,000-square-foot space with an adjacent outdoor patio at 3402 Canal St." According to the Houston Business Journal article, "Slowpokes’ location in The Plant was previously a gas station and tire shop." This is one of several retail spaces planned for phase two Houston Chronicle reported earlier this year:

Phase Two

Breaking ground in mid-2024, this phase includes 500 mixed-income apartments scattered across new buildings at 3301 Canal Street, 3402 Canal Street and 212 Sampson Street. This could include a mix of micro-units (400 square feet in size), traditionally-sized units and potentially coliving (shared housing). Also in phase two, plans call for incorporating 100,000 square feet of retail space scattered throughout multiple adaptive reuse projects in former warehouse buildings.

Additionally, I noticed a restaurant named Fork & Skewers at the site where Slowpokes is going, and they appear to be new.  Here is their website:

Looks like it might be a home for their food truck. Their Facebook says that they'll be there Thurs-Sat this week.

It is so good! I highly suggest it!

"Concept Neighborhood  – the Houston-based real estate investment, development and management company behind the authentic walkable neighborhood, The Plant in Second Ward – announced Tenfold Coffee Co. has signed a 5,000 SF lease at 3302 Garrow St. for its new roastery. Construction is underway and is expected to be complete this fall."

"Tenfold Coffee Company, the Heights-based cafe and roastery, will open its second and largest location in Second Ward this fall, but you won’t be able to sip your favorite latte there — at least not yet."

"Ibarra says he’ll work to make Houston even more of a coffee city by embedding Tenfold’s Second Ward facility into the community, offering a neighborhood subscription service that allows residents to purchase its coffee for pick-up, plus an on-site tasting room that invites curious residents and visitors inside to tour the space and learn more about Tenfold’s offerings."

A demolition permit was pulled yesterday for 212 Sampson St. A housing structure is/was located on the Second Ward property.

The 212 Sampson St parcel is located next to the 205 Roberts St parcel. Both are part of the overall plans for The Plant / Second Ward, a multi-block development from Concept Neighborhood.

Below is an excerpt from an article earlier this year in the Houston Chronicle. The article mentions mixed-income housing is planned for 212 Sampson St.

As previously noted, 212 Sampson St is part of The Plant / Second Ward's phase two.

Eater Houston are more about Tenfold / Tenfold Coffee Co.'s new roastery at 3302 Garrow St. Tenfold will be located in The Plant / Second Ward, a multi-block and walkable development from Concept Neighborhood.

The Heights-based roastery and cafe will open a wholesale facility in the Plant in Second Ward this fall, with a tasting room, a neighborhood subscription service, and educational classes.

...Tenfold’s new roastery in Second Ward, which is slated to open later this year, won’t be open to the public like its Heights cafe, but Ibarra has plans to still make the space accessible in other ways.
