Railway Market (previously named Railway Heights Market) is closed at 8200 Washington Ave, Suite 100. I think it closed quietly over the weekend. When searching for the food hall and market's Instagram at its handle @railwaymarkethtx, the account isn't visible.

However, it appears a new market is replacing the former one in the Railway Heights development.

The former website for Railway Market now sports a new name: Junction HTX / Junction HTX Market. I think the change was made about a day or two ago. Furthermore, all the posts from Railway Market's Instagram were removed and the account's name changed to Junction HTX. The bio on Junction HTX's Instagram states it's coming soon.

Additionally, the beer garden located next to the market hall is named Junction HTX Beer Garden.

I don't know if Junction HTX Market is from the developers/landowner behind the Railway Heights development or not. Also, I don't know if there are plans to renovate the space.

As for an estimated opening, follow their Instagram for further details.

For the last few weeks, Junction HTX / Junction HTX Beer Garden has been ramping up its reiteration of Railway Market on social media. It's now going by Junction Beer Garden. The venue is more on a beer garden / bar environment now. Previously, it centered around a market and food hall concept.

Following previews of the newly renovated space, Junction Beer Garden opens to the public tomorrow, November 14.

Junction Beer Garden is located at 8200 Washington Avenue, Ste 100. It's one of several tenants in the Railway Heights development. Based off a video posted to Junction Beer Garden's Instagram, the first floor is entirely renovated. There are cozy lounge-like seating areas, televisions, a bar, and a pool table. Food is still on offer from vendors upstairs.

In an article today on Houston Chronicle's website, the publication mentions the operators of Junction Beer Garden:

Junction Beer Garden... [is] from Hospitality Consultants and Heights & Co. operating partners Evin Haines and Brian Doke.

In regards to renovation of the space, Houston Chronicle notes:

Junction is an industrial open-floor concept with two bars, a pool table, photobooth and a variation of seating with retractable doors that open up to a 2,000-square-foot patio. Adjacent to the patio is a 10,000-square-foot lawn oasis that the owners see becoming a space for yard games and events such as game-day watch parties, local artisan markets and movie nights. The walls have 20 TVs and art from a rotating list of artists. Eventually, Junction plans to open a second floor as an event venue for private events.

Houston Chronicle included interior photos of Junction Beer Garden in a recent article.

Junction Beer Garden replaces Railway Market at 8200 Washington Avenue, Suite 100. It's one of several tenants in the Railway Heights development.

What is wrong with this place.... seems like tenants have always hated the landlords here.

At its busiest, about a dozen businesses filled the first and second floors of the sprawling food hall. But on Dec. 1, the four remaining tenants on the second floor — Meat + Cheese Project, Meshiko, the Funnel Cake House and Mykuna — received a text message from management that this weekend would be the last and that they had one week to vacate the building.

“I'm just frustrated about how everything transpired,” said Pleshette Drummond, owner of the Funnel Cake House. “We didn't have any warning that this was going to happen, none whatsoever.”

This weekend’s eviction was another unexpected turn of events for Railway Heights Market before the food hall began navigating a series of missteps, from management changes to sustaining a profitable business model.

The Chronicle reached out to Easy Park, the owners of the property at 8200 Washington, but did not receive an immediate reply."

Junction HTX and the new ground level beer garden concept Junction Beer Garden are still open in the Railway Heights development. Neither are closing. However, the remaining food stalls upstairs are closing after receiving an eviction notice from property owner and landlord Easy Park.

This is a bummer. I liked that renovation but I feel as though this place suffered from poor transportation connectivity*, covid and bad location.

* That stretch of Washington is awful from a pedestrian standpoint and difficult from a drivers standpoint. The construction at Hempstead/Union Pacific has been going on 3 years now and is goign at snails pace. Even if you wanted to walk there from the Cottage grove neighborhood, or any nearby neighborhood - you couldn't, so youre left with a venue thats "off the beaten path" with no easy way to get to it. Cottage grove residents end up taking the White Oak Bike Trail over to MKT, which has food, a park, and is easier to walk/bike to.

Eater Houston reports further details regarding the evictions of the remaining Railway Market food vendors. Also included in the article from earlier this month, a more in-depth view of management's treatment of tenants in the days prior and after the eviction.

Junction HTX and Junction Beer Garden are temporarily closed, according to a social media post last week. Both are located at 8200 Washington Avenue, Suite 100 in the Railway Heights development.

The social post stated the space will host a pop-up soon. Junction HTX did not specify which type of pop-up.

The pop-up coming to Junction HTX was announced last week. According to Junction's social media, it's hosting a Family Guy-themed pop-up, based on the animated tv show. The limited engagement launches in April.

I assume Junction HTX hasn't seen an increase in traffic since its transformation into a bar. Perhaps the operator or management is banking on pop-ups to bring in people? Whatever the reason, I hope it works for them. I'm disappointed still over the loss of the market and food hall.

Junction HTX is located on the Railway Heights campus at 8200 Washington Ave, Ste 100.
