j_cuevas713
It was a nice spot but there’s is just too much high speed traffic in the area for it to feel appealing or pedestrian unless you live within walking distance.

I found out Mico Hot Chicken's plans to open a brick and mortar location in the Heights at 1603 N Durham last month but promised to not spill the beans. The husband and wife team was looking for a permanent location for their ice cream business last year, but put those plans on hold to launch their hot chicken venture, a move that was the better decision. This location is tricky because of the one way traffic, but Mico has a loyal following and great product to turn this spot around. I think it's less the one-way traffic and more the attempt to do patio seating 8 feet from what is essentially an 8-lane highway. I think BOB struggled to get people to put up with that in order to get a relatively undistinguished hamburger, when there is a LOT of competition nearby. I mean, anyone who wanted to eat a hamburger on a dusty patio could just go to Hubcap instead. I think that they have a more unique product, and if they do some sort of fence or landscape buffer between Durham and the patio, they could do pretty well.
IntheKnowHouston
A couple of occupancy permits were purchased yesterday for 2400 N Shepherd Dr, Suite 100. Mico's Hot Chicken is listed as occupant. I'm uncertain if Mico's Hot Chicken is planning to move from its home at 1603 N Durham Dr. There is also the possibility the permits pertain to a new dining concept. I suppose further details will be released in the coming weeks. I'm unsure if the restaurant is relocating here or if there are plans for a new dining concept. Previously, Muscle Maker Grill occupied the space. The restaurant is leasing the vacant unit at 24th Street Market. Houston Chronicle's paywall free site, Chron.com, confirmed this today. 24th Street Market is located at 2400 N Shepherd Dr. No word if there is a new tenant lined up for 1603 N Durham Dr. Below are more details on the move provided to Chron.com: A representative with Mico's Hot Chicken confirmed Friday the restaurant is relocating to 2400 N. Shepherd Dr. The new location, according to the rep, will have indoor seating, an extended menu and a bar. https://www.chron.com/food/article/micos-hot-chicken-permit-speculation-19815830.php Edited October 5 by IntheKnowHouston

AS_
Never ate there (and would never eat there) but thought that concept "fit" the location. Wonder what will come next for that spot. A bar maybe?

But I wonder whether moving to a little strip mall is any better.
