jmitch94
Great coverage guys, I really appreciate everyone’s pictures and videos of the pour! One thing I was thinking is how would you even break up a foundation like that? I feel like you’d need a bunker buster bomb from WWII.

When I first looked at this today I was trying to figure out what CIIEC stood for. Then I realized I was looking at the elevator cores. 6
hindesky
Looks like the northwest tower crane is going up this weekend or they are going to take out the AT crane in the hole. But either way Prairie St is going to be closed. Prairie St. ClosureSunday, March 17 (5 am – 9 pm)Complete closure of the 800 block of Prairie (between Milam and Travis) to allow for crane erection.Detour: Motorists will turn right onto Travis, left on Congress, left on Milam ,and right back onto Prairie.Contact: Gilbane Building Company, Gerald Moore, 832-256-5696

Popular Post hindesky
Talked with a couple of Gilbane workers and asked if the second tower crane was going up next weekend and they said yes. Later on top of the parking garage I talked with a Consolidated worker who are putting up the tower crane the same question and he wasn't sure but said it's possible the first tower crane might be putting up the second tower crane up which has been done before at the Capitol build. He also said they would have to finish today as their permit expires at midnight. They were having a problem with the hoist cable twisting on the AT crane which isn't good as it can damage the cable. When I left they had stopped and were going to see if they could fix the problem before they continued. 12
kbates2
I saw further progress on it a bit ago so I guess they got it fixed.
Popular Post keaton
I think they are getting closer to completion. The 8 workers up top are now 5. That job is terrifying. 12

urbanize713
Is it me or does it seem like this will be above ground in like two weeks? That vertical rebar already seems to be at street level.

It took me about a week to get used to it. It comes back if you stop doing it for a while though.

Twinsanity02
For what ever its worth. Read an interview done by the Houston Chronicle from February 2014 with Mr. P.V Banavalkar of Vertika Structural . He stated that the JP Morgan tower ( 71 stories, 1002 feet) has a foundation base of 4 basements whereas the BP Group tower ( 46 stories, 632 feet) has a foundation base of 2 basements. I suppose this refers to how deep the foundation hole was. Anyone know what it is for the Hines Texas Tower? How was the second crane put up? With the first tower crane or an AT crane on the street?
