So I decided to venture out and compete with skyscrapercity/skyscraperpage, I will have thehaif.com link featured on the Houston part of the forum so those that land on the site know where to go for a more Houston forum, for example on the Dallas part of the Forum I will have dallasmetropolis.com as for their Dallas forum. I wanted to create a forum that links to the main part of a city to a forum. I wanted to make a new forum that is different/strange from whats out now, it going to take months for it to come out but thats because its going to be very different and its being made from scratch. I will have updates on the progress of the website here. As of right now I'm in the planning stages as what changes to current forums and new features that are going to be added.

If anyone has any ideas on features that you would like to see please comment them. :)

I think something that would set your website part is not the actual forum itself but the homepage! Forums are very intimidating for some. A great way to alleviate this issue would be to have some kind of map function like maybe the way devmap.io does, but instead of the side bar with the mess of text and bubble, instead the bubbles themselves could appear on the map and then if you want to see further discussion then you can click it and it takes you into the forum! Another thing which I think would be useful would be tags! I can't remember exactly which thread I discussed this, but it's somewhere. Anyway something like that. Then have the areas in development color coded to the different tags.

Speaking of devmap, I'm also going to be making one for my own, the one I'm going to make is going to be dynamic and interactive. The login page is going to be similir to facebook login page which also has a create new account but they layout is going to be different from standard social media sites. As for the tags I saw your posts on that, defiently implementing that!

Well Heres a mock up of the homepage. I kind of think it looks good without having country and ocean labels (names) but not sure if its a good idea to go without it. What do y'all think, should I include names of countrys and oceans or should I just simply have city names only?

EDIT: The night lighting you see on the maps will actually be projects glowing and no I know there won't be so many projects ha. This will provide a good perspective of which areas have a great number of projects. Another thing to note is that the top right icon is another view of the threads in case those of you don't want to use the maps. So sort of like what skyscrapercity and skyscraperpage already is but more advanced. On that part I'm still trying to create a more interactive and useful design.

Cool. I like the idea of the skyscraper aggregator - aggregation models are quickly surpassing traditional message boards as the preferred means of communicating about topics of shared interest.

Dude my mind is blown! I'm so on board with this! I've been waiting for a image exactly like this! I think it should be simplistic like it is right now, but as you zoom in then the words of countries and cities and land features start to appear. I like the projects as being the showcase from affair and not having it cluttered with everything else. This rocks dude! Keep rollin this stuff out.

I will now be adding image hosting to the site, so no more going to imgur or flickr. (unless you want to) I think it will be more helpful and faster to simply do everything on the same site/ or thread.

Edit: Heres a my progress timeline

If you are putting this site on a reliable server then I say go ahead with image hosting, but also make it as easy as possible for people utilize imgur, flicker, etc...
