Since no one posted an update about it: Verdine, the vegan restaurant at Heights Waterworks closed in July.

"Verdine, a restaurant in the Heights, will shutter on July 31...owner Stephane Hoban explains that she has accepted an offer to end her lease early."

What's taking over Verdine's former space at 449 W 19th St Suite C-200:

"[The space] will soon be home to a new vegan concept from the Sugar Land-based restaurant group behind Japaneiro's, Guru, and Jupiter Pizza & Waffle Co."

The name of the restaurant taking over Verdine's former unit at Heights Waterworks is the Ginger Mule. It will be located at 449 West 19th St, Ste C-200.

Owners behind Sugar Land restaurants Japaneiro's, Guru, and Jupiter Pizza & Waffle Co. previously operated a dining concept named the Ginger Mule in Sugar Land. That was a cocktail bar concept serving small-plates.

The latest iteration of the Ginger Mule will also include cocktails, but will focus on vegan fare too.

Too bad it's not another Guru. I think they would do quite well in the Heights, but I suppose another burger place was a non-starter given that Hopdoddy is already firmly entrenched at that location.

Braun Enterprises sold Heights Waterworks over the summer. 9700 Westchase, Ltd. (Reza Ebrahimi and Vahid Tabrizi) purchased the commercial development at 444 W 19th St.

Blue Ox Group announced the news in August:

"JUST CLOSED!

📍Heights Waterworks - Historic retail redevelopment space at the intersection of W. 20th and Nicholson St. in the heart of The Heights.  The coveted two-acre site contains a 750,000-gallon brick reservoir building from 1928 that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a 1939 Art Deco pumping station built by the Works Progress Administration and a 1949 pumping station. @joshblueox and @burdettebh collaborated on the off-market sale of this Houston landmark."

One Medical opened earlier this month at Heights Waterworks. It's located in building A at 449 W 19th St. This was the building that remained vacant after the development opened.

Signage for the Ginger Mule was installed recently. The Ginger Mule replaces Verdine in the Heights Waterworks development.

The Ginger Mule is a vegan restaurant from the group behind Guru, Japaneiro's, and Jupiter Pizza & Waffle Co. in Sugar Land.

According to the Ginger Mule's Google Map listing, the restaurant anticipates a March 21 opening.

The posted photo is from the Ginger Mule's Google Map listing.
