King Owl
has anybody seen the "other side" of this building? the one visible in most of the Houston skyline photos, like if you were driving down Memorial into downtown?
cloud713
The building is around 830 ft tall. very cool, thanks for the info. thats the first time ive heard a solid number. Sweet. This will be our first 800 footer. (800'-899')i was thinking the same when i first realized this would be at least 800' tall. its about time.. it will be the first building over 800' in Texas since 1985.it will be the 6th tallest building in the state. kbates2
They should shoot for 832'. Then get somebody to put up a 713' tower. Ludacris would approve.

cloud713
awesome. thanks again for the info. this one will be about 100' taller than the Continental tower. it should make a solid impact on the skyline.
cloud713
heres the rendering again for height comparison so no one has to dig back multiple pages to find it. looking back at it, it looks to be a good bit taller than continental. i didnt realize it would be 100', but the rendering seems to verify the height info. wxman
Man, this is a huge building. Craziness.
cloud713
right? and to think, they could of (many would say should of, heh) easily slapped an architectural feature/spire on the roof and made this sucker a supertall, a la the 55 story Bank of America Plaza in Atlanta, or the 54 story Bank of America Tower in NY. nativehoustonion
Your right that Bofa building in Atlanta is so ugly.
cloud713
agreed. just saying the roof height is about equal to many other newer "supertalls", due to architectural features/spires. going back to what wxman said, this is a huge building. brijonmang
I ended up getting a chance to get downtown last night. Here's a not so great cell phone picture of the site as of August 13...(Sorry I just really like 1500 Louisiana) http://s7.photobucket.com/user/brijonmang/media/IMAG0267_zps703adeae.jpg.html'>

lockmat
Oh yeah, I saw it the other day, too. You might be able to notice in the photo that they took down the fence they had put up.

LarryDierker
Any reason why? Open Range Grazing. their cattle are branded. no need for fences.
jt16
Just a hunch, but I would suppose the thought is they aren't breaking ground until 1st Qtr 2014, and fencing that much property cost money. They fenced while they had some prelim work going on, but no longer need the fence until real ground breaking. I also don't think an open grass field poses any risk to the general public. This is just my guess. I wouldn't get worried about the project overall.

This is just my guess. I wouldn't get worried about the project overall. I believe the original press release said a 2Q 2014 ground breaking. Considering this building is already spoken for tenant-wise and they just got their tax breaks approved, I'd say this project is 100% a go when that time comes around. No need to worry about the fence coming down. Aside from that, being on the vacant lot last night really reminded me how great the glass look on the two buildings already there. I have no doubt that this building will look good despite having a pretty mundane profile.
Urbannizer
The tower stands on a 4-story commons facility. Chevron is also planning for the building to achieve LEED Platium certification. Edited August 30, 2013 by Urbannizer
towerjunkie
This tower is going to make such an impact on the skyline. I cant wait for construction to begin. I wonder if the construction of this tower would encourage more business in downtown. More building boom anyone?

Houston19514
Very interesting. I had not previously realized that the structure connecting 1500 Louisiana to the new tower will be elevated, with it open to pedestrians on the ground level (roughly along the path of Leeland St.) This project keeps getting better.

nativehoustonion
It seems the skyscraper has a edge, then a angle. I cannot wait for the final design. I just rented one of my units off Kirby to a women from Boston. Chevron hired her at 26 years old for $78,000 per year. I have some property off Mimosa, it was showed 12 times. She had the best credit! And Hines is going to build his high rise two blocks away of San Felipe.
htownproud
I had not noticed before that it will have what appears to be a circle drive off Louisiana.
