This thread has convinced me to revoke my petition signature for the historic designation for my neighborhood. Asking the City to restrict my property in such a way that a panel of my neighbors may unapologetically refuse me permission to improve my property unless it meets their sense of appropriateness, combined with the suggestion that I sell my property if I am not sufficiently appreciative of their disapproval, has soured me on this whole 'historic district' charade.
