Zoe’s kitchen last day is Sunday.

I wonder if they're just turning into a CAVA like they've done with 90% of their other locations. Seems like the only one left is the one on San Felipe.

The plan was to convert to CAVA but apparently they’ve been going back and forth on that. I’m not sure where they stand now, though.

YoYo's Hotdogs is opening a brick and mortar building on Washington Ave.

That was mentioned in the linked Thresher piece:

Dang also said that plans to open a brick and mortar YoYo’s shop are on hold, pending approval from the City of Houston.

but the wording is confusing - are they just waiting on the normal permit process? "On hold" is not the way I'd have phrased it, if that's the case.

Bluestone Lane is open at Rice Village. The latest Houston location made its debut either February 15 or close to that date.

The all-day cafe and coffee shop is located at 2414 University Blvd, Suite 190.

Additional details from an article published a few weeks ago on Eater Houston:

"...its Rice Village locale, situated near CB2 and West Elm, will be among the largest of all of the company’s locations nationwide. Along with generous indoor and outdoor seating, the restaurant has beach-themed decor, textured paintings, and a bespoke mural by Houston artist Shelbi Nicole on an exterior wall."

Prego will be relocating soon, likely some time this year. The news was reported in October.

Currently located at 2520 Amherst St, Prego's new digs will still be in Rice Village. It is moving to 5515 Kelvin Dr., Suite 130. Talbots, a clothing retailer, occupies the unit.

Additional details from CultureMap's article:

Prego will remain open at its current location (2520 Amherst) until the new restaurant — currently a Talbots clothing store — is ready to open. Anthony Vu from 2X Studio will design the new space, which will blend elements of the current location with some more contemporary touches.

A few weeks ago, Rice Village's retail leasing agent provided an updated site plan to the shopping district's listing.

The site plan lists Luminary / Luminary Lifestyle as a tenant. Luminary is a woman's clothing retailer.

I ate at the Hudson House in Addison a little over a year ago. I was in town on business and taken there by a colleague who raved about the place. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion but it doesn't mean he or she knows good food or decent service for that matter. This place had neither.

So Prego, Brown Bag, Beautique all closed or about to close?  Le Peep has been gone for a while.  There has to be something big planned for this block, right? RIGHT?!

Good observation. The site plan lists the spaces as offline, so it's possible. Maybe details will be announced later this year.

There is a new master plan being developed by a major Houston firm for Rice University's property in the Village. It's all in the early planning stages and it will be a Rice Village Game Changer for sure. Thats all I can say.

A demolition permit was purchased last week for The Ginger Man. The former beer bar was located at 5607 Morningside Dr.

"The beloved bar hit hard times at the beginning of the pandemic and closed in the spring of 2020. Rice University bought the property in June 2020," according a 2021 Houston Chronicle article. At the time, management noted they're "still evaluating the building to determine what needs to be done to find a new tenant."

Another photo snapped after the razing of the former Ginger Man site earlier this week. The photo was shared in a Facebook group.

"Blooming anew" and the Rice Village District logo are printed on tarps wrapping the site. As noted a few posts up, Rice University purchased the property in 2020.

The Ginger Man was located in Rice Village at 5607 Morningside Dr.

Based on the Rice Village District site plan uploaded in September, the former site of The Ginger Man is included. The space at 5607 Morningside Dr is shown as offline.

With this week's demolition of structure that housed The Ginger Man, perhaps there's a new tenant lined up. Does anyone have further insight about this?

Interesting that it's the only location they are closing in the Houston area.

That's part of the master plan I was talking about in January along with all of the property from Greenbriar to Morningside. Might be big changes to the west side of Rice campus like the stadium area. Lots more too come!

Does anyone have access to Rice Universities holdings in the village. That's the key to the plan. All of their property will be

redeveloped with this new plan.

Oooh! Thanks for your insight, @bobruss. I wonder how big of a change will we see? Part of this area's charm are the eclectic shops and buildings. While Rice Management Company doesn't own all the properties surrounding Rice Village District, are they going to acquire more?
