  1. Well, If it DOES come this way I am not going anywhere. I evacuated last time and it was worse than going through a hurricane. And yes I have been through 2 of them. Carla and Alicia. That was the biggest mess I have ever seen. I really hope it goes in somewhere thats not very populated. And yes, I blame Bush. lol
  2. The Harris County Flood Control website has a very nice hurricane tracker download. It has lots of information and you can watch the tracks of hurricanes of the past. I just spent 2 hours on there. When you download it puts a shortcut on your desktop. Just google harris county flood control and go to downloads. Its really great.
  3. A neighbor down the street has his entire garage wallpapered with flattened out bud light twelve pack boxes. It looks like party central in there.
  4. My garage holds one truck, one suv, lumber for hurricanes, paint, tools, gardening supplies, upright freezer, small refrigerator, small tv with cable, electronic dart board, cd player and a picture of dogs playing poker. lol
  5. My calculation from the date it was built over the front door makes it 82. Remember Vert.. They are channel 39 reporters, not REAL reporters. I saw the same report. It was the first time I had seen those halls in 35 years. But when I last saw it it was two tone prison green, not gray. I must say I had forgotten all about the many pipes that ran overhead in the halls. I wish they would fix the old school up. The windows were replaced the year after I left because thats the year they got air conditioning and the old windows leaked way too much to hold in any cool air.
  6. No extra exercise was involved. Just her normal routine. I started the diet myself yesterday. I should start seeing results soon.
  7. Her doctor said it was better to eat an orange that it was to drink orange juice. Grapefruit are very good for you and not much sugar. Apples are great but only if you eat the peel along with the good part. He said to eat all the veggies except potatoes, corn, sweet peas and carrots. Eat all the beef, seafood, chicken and pork you want. Dont touch any bread except for 100% whole wheat. No multi grain. And, Egglands best eggs are high in omega 3 and are very good for you. I went on this diet and started loosing belly fat right off the bat. After 2 weeks I had to get new pants. but... I went back to bad habits and gained some weight back. But, at least I know theres a sure fire way to lose weight and not starve myself. And when I decide to get some willpower again I'll do it. yes, I'm doing better, thanks for asking.
  8. The Randalls on 528 and Bay Area Blvd closed down a while back and it just opened as a Specs. Gotta love the irony.
  9. My mom lost a lot of weight by doing what her doctor told her. He said to avoid all white foods. Sugar, and starches. And he said to be sure to read the labels on all food for the sugar content. Do not eat anything over 5 gms of sugar. I was shocked when I read the labels on juice, ketchup, spaghetti sauce and a bunch of other stuff. her doctor also said to avoid fruits with too much sugar like bananas, watermelon, cantalope and strawberries. Mom went from 185 to 148 in 3 months. She looks great.
  10. Its ok, I've noticed that without the alcohol I no longer stand on my front lawn in my underwear. Now I just stand on my porch.
  11. Its the alcohol alone that I'm allergic to. I've been allergy tested for all foods. I have tried a few different beers since the first episode and have started to get an anaphylactic reation to all of them. I have tried wine coolers, wine, vodka, rum, tequila, and I start getting hives with a pre curser to anaphylactic shock. My allergist said to stay away from alcohol. I had oatmeal for breakfast Sunday morning. Love the stuff. I'll just stick with non alcohol beers.
  12. Thanks for the photos. I love Galveston and its historic buildings. I can't get enough.
  13. I really LIKE the taste of beer. I dont drink it just to get a buzz. My favorite was Samuel Smiths oatmeal stout. I prefer dark beer. The darker and more robust the better. I guess I'll have to drink Malto Goya in pace of a dark beer and non alcohol Bavaria malt in place of a regular whimpy beer. Thank you all for your help.
  14. Heres another pic from the sixties when Boyce and Hart were on the show. Larry Kane ran into the early 70's. Check out the cool clothes. It was a dance show but he would interview the bands. There is a video on youtube of a 60's band called Southwest FOB performing a song. It doesnt show the dancers but it prety cool anyway. Do a youtube search for southwest FOB and you should be able to find it. Actually the song is pretty good. And a must see for the clothes alone.
  15. The only local dance show I remember around here was The Larry Kane Show. I think it came on Saturday mornings in the 60's. He would have popular bands play and the dancers would dance in front of the stage. Thats Larry Kane in the middle, check out those white shoes, with Ron Dante on the left and Jeff Barry on the right.
  16. I'm allergic to that too. It makes me throw up. I found that out in jr high school, so there. And even if I could smoke it I wouldnt. I get drug tested and I value my job and I dont like smoke in my very healthy lungs. I did try a Bavarian Malt non alcohol. It was very good. Only .05% alcohol. The same amount thats found in fruit juices. I had no side effects whatsoever. And it was nice holding that brown frosty bottle while visiting with friends.
  17. Thats what I figured. Oh the pain!
  18. I have somehow managed to aquire an allergy to alcohol. I drank half a beer and went into anaphylactic shock and ended up in the emergency room. I went to an allergist and I'm not allergic to hops, yeast, barly or anything else in beer. All she could find was a lot of allergies to different molds and dust...oh.. and tumbleweeds, yes I said tumbleweeds. lol. I tried rum .. just a small sip and started to get hives. Grrrr. I miss my friday night relaxing with a frosty adult beverage. The only thing rum and beer have in common is the yeast for the fermenting process and alcohol and since I'm not allergic to yeast .... alcohol is the only thing left. Any ideas? I tried O'douls... nasty! I also tried one with a name that started with a K. also nasty. flat and no flavor. Any help would be appreciated.
  19. Back in 1974 I went to my high school journalism banquet and Marvin was the guest speaker. What a nice man he was. His wife was with him and she was a sweatheart as well. And yes, he did end his speach with.. MAAAARVIN ZINDLER, Eye Witness News. I wrote to him a couple of years ago and he was gracious enough to write back telling me how he remembered the banquet and thanking me for remembering him. He will be sorely missed. They better mind their P's and Q's in heaven because the Watchdog is now there.
  20. I had one of those too. Ahh, the smell of melting plastic. I think it was called Vacu-Form or something like that.
  21. I hate it that so many people on the feeders do not yield for the traffic coming off the freeway!!!! I sometimes think they actually believe the giant yield sign is for the exiting traffic to yield to them. I also think these drivers need to be reminded that ALL lanes on the feeder are suppose to yield, not just the first lane.
  22. I had Mrs. Smart for homeroom. She would get so mad if anyone was chewing gum. She said we looked like cows chewing our cud. I had Mrs. Fife for music and also Mr. Crabb. I still have an old autograph book where he signed his name and drew a crab. He was a nice guy.
  23. I loved KLOL. Remember Dana Steel? I still have my card showing I'm a Steel Worker. lol. I remember her last day on the air. She was moving to California. She was taking requests and asked for people to please NOT request Stairway To Heaven. She would absolutely explode if she had to play the song one more time. lol. I still have a KLOL T-shirt that I bought at Texas Tapes and Records. It was the kind with 3/4 inch sleeves. It was Gray with the silver dude with the lightening bolt on the front. The sleeves were bright red. Now I stick with Dean and Rog and Susie.
