  1. I do remember looking for a mountain when I was younger, before I knew any better.
  2. Considering that made the effort to create a parking garage, they should have taken advantage of the Post Oak side and pulled the stores up to the street with a common sidewalk. I thought they have variances they could get for this.
  3. And just to update and bump an old thread, 3 years later, the Water Wall has fallen out of favor, and has seen been converted to a public park. With a new split of 52/46, in favor of the River Oaks Theatre, it seems that I was wrong. *sigh*
  4. Anyone else going to the Michael Jackson IMMORTAL show, Cirque Du Soleil? I am going to the first show Friday 2/10/2012. No idea how this will compare to their other musical act themed show, The Beatles: LOVE Anyone, not from Houston, seen the show yet?
  5. The creek right by my office up in Spring pretty much top the banks, with water cresting, I can imagine some good flow further north is dumping into the lakes.
  6. Can we all agree, the drought is over, it's been a very wet January.
  7. .I would blame it on SOPA and PIPA Niche, and yes, you can start a new thread, as I am sure your response, and mine will get deleted. Definitely off topic For those that don't know exactly what you are referring too, can you expand. Are you talking about transportation between galleria and downtown?
  8. And then it will go up again by 2013. They were $5 not to long ago, maybe 2008. Oh well.
  9. 80 stories, love how that is so casual for them. Houston will take it. I see that they already have the base ready for 7 or 80, that's very last minute.
  10. It's that or we can pick who the next American Idol is. . . your choice! :
  11. I revert back and forth from lurker to non-lurker, but with all this construction starting up again, (3) office buildings alone just a few block away from my home, this and Swamplot are back in my almost daily routine.
  12. Are we going to do this again for 2012?
  13. How's this for closure on an old thread. Old news, but for the sake of ending it, the half build WAMU was completed and turned into a People's Trust Credit Union.
  14. Last night, the parking at the Galleria location is already getting bad again after the New Year Resolution minions died off. I had to park over down by Aaron Brothers...it was 7:00 p.m. and it was that full, which is typically when the after work crowd leaves. I am guessing, some people got a head start and changed their routine by avoiding Post Oak. Again, their last day is this Friday. I hope they build another gym in the area, or else it will be a long wait for machines.
  15. I noticed they only mentioned covering Rockets and Astros games when the move into the HP...surprised they left out Dynamos.
  16. Niche, he's relatively new to the forum, cut him some slack. Just send a request to merge it with whatever thread you think it belongs.
  17. I agree with Texasota, and very happy that the more senior/veteran members are not running Nick_G off. He remind me of me back in the day. . . You will figure out that people on here are very polarizing about their neighborhoods and debates can get colorful. On topic. As long as the HP can manage to keep it's anchor stores, and hang in there until those latest and greatest convention hotel come to fruition and the pair of rail lines get complete within the next two years, it will get better. The completion of the Dynamo Stadium will have minimal effect. This is about as bad as it will get. HP can only go up from here.
  18. It's Native American, and they never put Indian in it's own category like that.
  19. As long as they start making/replacing sidewalks wide enough to have to people walk abreast, that will work. Most on the inside of 610 are standard width.
  20. We pay $225/month, and it includes common area electricity, flood/fire/wind/liability insurance, landscaping, pool maintenance, gate, improvements. Other than the intersection toll booth clerks, (harmess homeless people), no issues, I run at night, walk to the HEB, Starbucks, and even walked to the Galleria a few times when the weather is nice. Been VERY happy living here, location...location...location. It's nice to be home when others are still waiting in traffic going to Katy, Sugar Land, Cypress, etc.
  21. I can tell you my past experience. I bought my townhome back in 2003, and live right where housing goes from affordable to expensive, Fountainview/Westheimer. It was on the market for $135K, I moved in for $110K with all the issues I found. I got a great home, 3 bed 2 1/2 bath with an attached 2 car garage. The home itself was 2,500 sq ft. My low HOA fees have not changed since I moved in. My thoughts, if this is long term, and you are accepting of living in a house that needs renovations and moderate repairs and upgrades, go for one of the older homes that is larger. You can always fix a large townhome to be nice, but you can't make a nice townhome larger, (since most have common walls with neighbors).
  22. Considering it will have access the light rail, I am surprised they are going for the strip mall look. I agree with Pleak, very underwhelming.
  23. Nice find DrLan. That is an amazingly small plot of land. But they did good if that what they plan to build. Efficient.
  24. Happy anniversary/birthday HAIF.
