  1. The more I think about my prior post quoted above, the more I begin to imagine Crane & HoustonFirst possibly partnering together for an entertainment & retail development complex here, possibly even including the current Home Plate Bar structures. The Cardinals have Ballpark Live! Philly has XFinity Live! Up north, the Rangers & Arlington are partnering together to build Texas Live! I know we already have a Live! Cornish development at the other end of Texas Ave but in the case of the Cards & Rangers, they do get a cut of profits from these projects. I can see Crane wanting the same. It would also give HoustonFirst even more entertainment & restaurant options they were seeking near GRB. "Home Plate Live!" anyone?!? Edit: For the Rangers agreement with Arlington for Texas Live!, a breakdown of how they stand to profit from the project. City council approved on 12/16/2015 http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2015/12/arlington-considering-200-million-proposed-development-near-rangers-ballpark.html/
  2. The western face looks like a vintage wooden coffin lol
  3. The northern portion partially completed opens up to meet a 4 lane ADLA layout north of McKinney. But it is cut down from the sea of 8 useless lanes that used to be here, thus wider new sidewalks! The plaza area you're referring to is currently closed off and begins around the new main GRB entrance extending over to Hilton Américas. The lights fixtures were nothing fancy, black posts & canisters with slotted openings. I'll be in the area tomorrow and tweet out some pics. As for GRB - Final Four Fan Fest is being held here tbrought Monday. $10 a pop, free if you're a CapOne cardholder.
  4. Didn't get any pics of this but some portions of ADLA are semi-completed on the northern side by the Mariott Marquis. New street layout & wider sidewalks with new pavers and spots for landscaping (yet to be added). I also spotted a few light fixtures here that may be part of the project too. Gives a good idea of what to expect when completed. Interior lower concourse of GRB also shows some work in the form of lighting & ceiling work in an attempt to modernize the look of the place. Some portions by Hall E looked complete (or close to) whereas other spots were clearly still a work in progress. I really like what I saw and can't wait to see the finished products of ADLA, GRB, & the Mariott Marquis.
  5. Mayor says Hemisfair wrong site for new Downtown ballpark. That would potentially eliminate 2 sites, S Alamo & Market (demoing portions of the convention center) and Institute of Texan Cultures. Wasn't sure how this site would play well with US Dictrict Courts & Social Security office complex next door. http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/news/2016/03/31/exclusive-mayor-says-hemisfair-wrong-site-for-new.html?ana=twt IMO - the lot south of the Alamodome may be the leader as it would have no costs associated with land acquisition, unlike the Fox Tech site. Would still have a nice view of the Tower of the Americas & the Alamodome.
  6. SA and Elmore Sports Group in discussions for a new ballpark in Downtown SA for a relocated AAA team, likely the Colorado Springs SkySox, also owned by ESG. Team would likely be a AAA affiliate of the Rangers, with Round Rock switching back to the Astros and Fresno going to the Brewers to replace the SkySox. Ballpark sites discussed include the northwest corner of Hemisfair, at South Alamo and Market streets; the Institute of Texan Cultures; Fox Tech High School football fields; parking lot south of the Alamodome; and sites near Lone Star south of downtown, and the Pearl. IMO, the sites on either side of I-37 maybe be the best spots in terms of visibility and the potential for a view of the Tower of the Americas in the outfield. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/report-colorado-springs-moving-to-san-antonio/?utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&utm_content=56ff51d204d3014a9536e911&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook
  7. Safe to say that's gotta be the Home Plate Bar & Grill buildings that Crane owns. Nau Center was supposed to be on the other portion of this lot. Wonder if later development coincides with whatever Houston First does with the rest of the site.
  8. A few updates: 1. In front of the above sculptures, a chome plaque has gone up (probably for this) 2. While everything rushes to completion ahead of the Final Four, it appears all work (including repairs) has stopped on Color Jam. Maybe this changes in the next 72 hours but it looks a horrible mess currently. 3. Southbound Main St Sq plaza behind 1111 Travis is now open. 4. New granite hexagonal shaped planters are going up (see in front of Humble Oil Building. If it's not raining later, will try and get a pic 5. Bike lane being completed next to 1111 Travis. See Downtown Bike Lane thread in Transportation Forum. Edit: Found this planter in front of Waste Management.
  9. Update: 1111 Travis portion finally being completed as I post this. Lane will be fully complete.
  10. Pic of testing for Facial Recognition display.
  11. My name is the same from my profiles on ClutchFans & BigSoccer. I first used the name on Clutchfans 14 years ago when I created my profile there. It's origin is from a piece of jewelry containing a Tiger's Eye Quartz that was gifted to me. It didn't have any particular significance at the time and I don't know what I was thinking about then when I came up with the moniker. I don't even know what happened to the jewelry lol
  12. I like the new format but 1 issue for me is still not resolved with the change: I still cannot post pics from my iPhone using "choose files" option as I get a "cannot upload more than 40.96 kb" error message. Thus I continue to link my tweets with pics for now as all of my pics Downtown are taken on the the go during workdays. Really miss the old TapaTalk upload pic format - was quick & easy. Can this mobile pic upload issue be resolved?
  13. Looks like a race to the finish. Pic I snapped yesterday cycling through.
  14. A few pics while cycling through yesterday. Main at Dallas. Renner's Trumpet Flower going up.
  15. Yeah I couldn't really tell from the train. Good choice of color, blends in well with the building next door.
  16. Found a daytime rendering I don't recall ever seeing before. Wonder this block has remained a surface lot after all these years? The site (parking lot behind 1 Shell) seems perfect for a tower or some form of development. Would be in the middle of the tunnel loop too.
  17. FWIW, it appears there's been a design change to this. Exterior now has brick in a similar color to its next door neighbor. Minor change but blends in a bit better IMO. Sorry no pics, spotted on train ride in.
  18. Looks like a fresh render ...is this waterfall supposed to be added? Cause in the years I've been at 1KM, it's never done that. Edit: Went outside to look, don't see any plumbing unless it's way up there. This is the closest I can get as sidewalk is blocked for Trumpet Flower's installation. Edit 2 Coworkers say it was a waterfall and was recently turned off. Guess it was so insignificant, I never actually paid attention to it lol
  19. EDIT: As for any tenants on 2 Main St spaces or 1 space in tunnel by escalators, no one knows anything yet.
  20. Looks like it's go time for Renner's Trumpet Flower. Pieces are on site.
  21. Hilcorp is moving in today. Tunnel connection open.
