  1. So far, the paint seems to be holding this time around.
  2. I do. I like Renner's work and I'm glad to see some of it Downtown. And watching the curious reactions of pedestrians, stopping to snap pics, Id say the Downtown Management District made the right decision in selecting his work to be apart of this project. Before this, I never really saw these types of reactions before on our streetscape.
  3. This. Atleast 3 restaurants (McCormmicks, III Forks, & Guadalajara) could use the wider sidewalks for patio space. House of Blues' Crossroads Cafe could be a 4th. And then you'll have Hotel Alessandra's front door on Dallas as well. And across the street from HOB, you have 101 Reserve, Ben's Beans, and Dirt Bar, with Marlowe possibly coming soon. The potential for activity on/near Dallas is there and I believe now that construction is complete, we'll see changes outward as we get closer to Hotel Alessandra's opening.
  4. Serious work was done on Color Jam this weekend.
  5. I'd be ok with the hotel atop the garage ...if HouFirst didn't have block 161 (former Nau site) available with Jim Crane owning the Home Plate buildings and interested in future development. To me, a combined ballpark entertainment complex & boutique hotel sounds like it could have better potential then the hotel atop the garage. http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/03-30-16-astros-owner-gives-the-inside-scoop-on-his-two-new-restaurants-near-minute-maid-park/#slide=0
  6. This is for block 100 behind Marriott Marquis. The RFQ for the entertainment venue appears to be for block 287.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember some talk previously about Houston Food Truck Park possibly moving here. Wonder what would they need a stage/entertainment venue for so close to Discovery Green? Especially if ADLA's reconfiguration can also be used for temporary stage setups as well.
  8. Pic I took of Trumpet Flower earlier today.
  9. Some pics. Semi-completed portions of ADLA on north side. New Light fixtures up. Only 4 of them. Pano pic from here with Marquis & skyline view.
  10. The more I think about my prior post quoted above, the more I begin to imagine Crane & HoustonFirst possibly partnering together for an entertainment & retail development complex here, possibly even including the current Home Plate Bar structures. The Cardinals have Ballpark Live! Philly has XFinity Live! Up north, the Rangers & Arlington are partnering together to build Texas Live! I know we already have a Live! Cornish development at the other end of Texas Ave but in the case of the Cards & Rangers, they do get a cut of profits from these projects. I can see Crane wanting the same. It would also give HoustonFirst even more entertainment & restaurant options they were seeking near GRB. "Home Plate Live!" anyone?!? Edit: For the Rangers agreement with Arlington for Texas Live!, a breakdown of how they stand to profit from the project. City council approved on 12/16/2015 http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2015/12/arlington-considering-200-million-proposed-development-near-rangers-ballpark.html/
  11. The western face looks like a vintage wooden coffin lol
  12. The northern portion partially completed opens up to meet a 4 lane ADLA layout north of McKinney. But it is cut down from the sea of 8 useless lanes that used to be here, thus wider new sidewalks! The plaza area you're referring to is currently closed off and begins around the new main GRB entrance extending over to Hilton Américas. The lights fixtures were nothing fancy, black posts & canisters with slotted openings. I'll be in the area tomorrow and tweet out some pics. As for GRB - Final Four Fan Fest is being held here tbrought Monday. $10 a pop, free if you're a CapOne cardholder.
  13. Didn't get any pics of this but some portions of ADLA are semi-completed on the northern side by the Mariott Marquis. New street layout & wider sidewalks with new pavers and spots for landscaping (yet to be added). I also spotted a few light fixtures here that may be part of the project too. Gives a good idea of what to expect when completed. Interior lower concourse of GRB also shows some work in the form of lighting & ceiling work in an attempt to modernize the look of the place. Some portions by Hall E looked complete (or close to) whereas other spots were clearly still a work in progress. I really like what I saw and can't wait to see the finished products of ADLA, GRB, & the Mariott Marquis.
  14. Safe to say that's gotta be the Home Plate Bar & Grill buildings that Crane owns. Nau Center was supposed to be on the other portion of this lot. Wonder if later development coincides with whatever Houston First does with the rest of the site.
  15. A few updates: 1. In front of the above sculptures, a chome plaque has gone up (probably for this) 2. While everything rushes to completion ahead of the Final Four, it appears all work (including repairs) has stopped on Color Jam. Maybe this changes in the next 72 hours but it looks a horrible mess currently. 3. Southbound Main St Sq plaza behind 1111 Travis is now open. 4. New granite hexagonal shaped planters are going up (see in front of Humble Oil Building. If it's not raining later, will try and get a pic 5. Bike lane being completed next to 1111 Travis. See Downtown Bike Lane thread in Transportation Forum. Edit: Found this planter in front of Waste Management.
  16. Pic of testing for Facial Recognition display.
  17. Looks like a race to the finish. Pic I snapped yesterday cycling through.
  18. A few pics while cycling through yesterday. Main at Dallas. Renner's Trumpet Flower going up.
