Found a daytime rendering I don't recall ever seeing before. Wonder this block has remained a surface lot after all these years? The site (parking lot behind 1 Shell) seems perfect for a tower or some form of development. Would be in the middle of the tunnel loop too.

Looks like a fresh render ...is this waterfall supposed to be added? Cause in the years I've been at 1KM, it's never done that. Edit: Went outside to look, don't see any plumbing unless it's way up there. This is the closest I can get as sidewalk is blocked for Trumpet Flower's installation. Edit 2 Coworkers say it was a waterfall and was recently turned off. Guess it was so insignificant, I never actually paid attention to it lol

EDIT: As for any tenants on 2 Main St spaces or 1 space in tunnel by escalators, no one knows anything yet.

TXDOT looking at Purple City's plan, which would keep the Pierce Elevated in favor of MaxLanes & preserve interesting freeway architecture over Buffalo Bayou. http://houstonstrategies.blogspot.com/2016/03/a-compelling-alternative-to-i45.html?m=1 Don't like the Pierce Elevated Max Lanes idea & dressing up an overpass to be more street friendly as a way to knit together Midtown & Downtown. Meanwhile, the East End gets stuck with an above/grade & below grade freeway while Midtown gets a pretty overpass? Also I don't like preserving the overpasses over Buffalo Bayou. Posts on the previous page said it best - we need to find to better knit Downtown with Buffalo Bayou Park. A cable-stayed bridge or just a unified overhead lane structure with less column supports would do the trick. The idea of a new Western Gateway with an Allen Pkwy terminus roundabout is awesome. Also, there are some additional items for BRT & Bike lanes but IIRC, this would be a Metro & city issue that TXDOT would not address. Color Jam update: as feared, the road painted portions have not survived.

IMO city has done a good job with continued upkeep dating back to 2004 of the Main St planter boxes along center divider in the north end.

And on the north end, the planters are now filled.

Meanwhile on the south side, what completed portions of Main look like after renovation.

Last weeks repainting didn't fix the issue.

Dallas St update. New streetlights going up.

All street level businesses were moved in January. There's work being done on the Dallas side.
