  1. Does anyone have any expierence with the local ice house in the Willowbend neighorhood called Red Rice Ice House located at 10308 South Main Street? Red River Ice House invites you to our laid back sports bar and grill near NRG Stadium Houston. https://www.redrivericehouse.com/ Typical sports bar? Do they happen to have (basic) craft beer such as Saint Arnold, Buffalo Bayou Brewing, 8th Wonder Brewery, Karbach Brewing? Looking for more places to sit down and enjoy a cold one. Nothing like drinking a beer, watching sports and eating fried food and cheese!

I was browsing the newspaper The Bellaire & Southwestern Texan dated January 31, 1973 and came across this Mexican food advertisement for a grand opening for Casa de Mexico located at 4566 Bissonnet near West Loop. The original located was at 4118 Willowbend. Anyone ever go here back in the 1970s? Love to hear some memories or stories.

I was browsing the newspaper The Bellaire Texan dated February 13, 1963 and came across this vintage advertisement for David's Auto Sales located at 4113 Willowbend Blvd. Does anyone recall this used car business? Looks like this was located at the present-day Saint Thomas Episcopal Willowbend Field. Very cool!! 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air - $795

  6. Noticed this dumpster permit for the Houston Methodist Hospital Distribution Center located at 7702 Parnell Street. Located across the street from Holmes Road, near Almeda.

Phase two includes the hotel, conference center, and multifamily tower. Phase 2 is due to come online in 2025/2026. This means construction should start later this year? Or at the latest early next year. The campus activities and amenities list grew! This place seems like a dream!! 37 acres mixed-use at full build-out including: 5.4M developed SF 275K SF of programmed park 123K SF retail 150 seat beer garden (!!) 20K SF food hall (!!) 1K seat amphitheater (!!) 300K SF parking The Mixed-Use Garage looks better than I thought. wow!! The fitness club that they are calling "Burn Fitness" includes a roof top pool! Look at that unique golden mesh wrap and the curvy ground floor glass facade!! Even the parking garage is a master piece!

  11. Does anyone know what is going on with the street lights around UT's developable 80-acres? The land surrounded by Willowbend, Buffalo Speedway, and West Bellfort. This getting beyond tiring! The street lights are owned by the city I assume? Can CenterPoint Energy not fix this within a weeks time? Why is this such a waste land? Did the University of Texas System stop paying their utility bills?
  12. This is wild! I thought the Burger King that later became Dairy Queen was the typical corporate franchise store. This Burger King looks like nothing you see today!! Can anyone date this? Who owned this location, who was management? This Burger King was located on S. Post Oak near Willowbend. Not where the (current) location stands. This is the original! Thanks. Example of the illumination at night. Can't confirm this is the same S. Post Oak location.

Building 1 is 304,400 square feet and offers a cross-dock configuration with 36-foot clear height, and Building 2 is 121,800 square feet with a front-load configuration and 32-foot clear height.   17. What's up with this school named Mirabeau B. Lamar School On Henry And Chestnut that was active in 1914? Isn't the full name of Lamar High School in River Oaks on Westheimer Road called Mirabeau B. Lamar High School? I forgot where I found this. Probably in a 1914 HISD school report? Is there an exact address to this HISD school? Mirabeau B. Lamar School, corner of Henry and Chestnut. District- From Southern Pacific tracks north to the city limits, and from Bayou east to line beginning at city limits, going on Chochran Street south to Noble, then west to Common, then south to Hogan, then west to Gentry, and then south to Southern Pacific Shops.
