  1. Looks like the Texas Medical Center asked the federal government for Coronavirus Relief Funds to build the TMC BioPort. At one time, there was talks to buy state-owned property. I assume the state-owned property in question was University of Texas' 307-Acres on Holmes Road & Buffalo Speedway? The first TMC BioPort master plan included the bulk of UT's land on Holmes Road. Very cool!!
  2. There is a new for sale sign a long Buffalo Speedway near West Airport. Yaalx Realty Group is listing 367-acres for sale. I called and spoke to one of the principals. TMC and their co-developer backed out and now the owner is shopping around for a new buyer. I hope TMC and the owner(s) can come to terms soon! Maybe they just need to compromise on the final terms? The numerous Buffalo Speedway/Holmes Road proposals never seem to work out.
  3. $26,136,000 is a lot of money considering it's only 4 acres. Incredibly high priced land.
  4. There is also this map, which is more localized. Galveston-Houston Electric Railway Co. Electric Interurban Railway
  5. Found this amazing piece of history earlier in the thread. It was not displayed as an image so I thought I would capture it. Block or Tracts: A-B-C-D. Abstract No. 72 Description: 55.433-Acres John D. Taylor Sur. A-72. Vol. 41 PG. 28/4 Trammel Crow Corp. 1964 San Felipe Square
  6. What type of renovations are going on? I see blue tape? There is equipment and alterations going on at the BCM The Roy and Lilie Cullen Building.
  7. This is a Wyatt C. Hedrick design. Desk-Side Parking In Houston Office Building In a bid to line up drive-to-work tenants, the Siteman Organization asked Wyatt C. Hedrick to design an office building with an attached garage that would be more garage that would be more than sufficient to park tenants' and visitors' cars. Hedrick's design, for a corner site in Houston, in a 20-story gray-and-gold square tower and an eight-level , 750-car garage connected to it, banded together by a pierced masonry screen. Behind the screen around the office base, a glass curtain wall will be recessed enough for window washing; the garage will be enclosed by the screen alone. The office-building exterior will be porcelain enamel on steel and tinted glass.
  8. K.C. Knudson started the Knudson Koastal Precast company, sometime written as Koastal Precast, or Knudson Koncrete Precast. K.C. Knudson also started the company Knudson Development Company, LLC, which I believe they used to acquire and develop the Holmes Road parcel. Looks like the concrete company was active in 2005 until 2016? when the Buffalo Speedway bridge was built. I wonder if HAIF could have photos of the old concrete precast yard. I'll see if I can go on Google Earth and look at old images.
  9. Found the Loopnet listing that is 22 years old. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/5347280/450-Holmes-Road-Houston-TX/ 450 Holmes Road: Rental Rate: N/A Property Subtype: Warehouse Min. 10. Just discovered yet another concrete ready-mix plant on Holmes Road! I don't think there's anyplace else in Houston with the amount of mix ready mix plants so close together? The area is super dense with cement ready-mix plants!
  11. Weird that the Texas Medical Center did not purchase this 12-acre tract that's smack dab in the middle of their TMC BioPort campus. Just seems like it would have been more of a continuous land development. Without this 12 acre, slender parcel, there will be a gap between the campus buildings. I know TMC BioPort is going through campus changes on the master plan. Maybe they will grab this at one point. Here is the slender parcel outlined in a red dotted line near building 4. Can't they just pay a few million more to purchase the parcel? Must have hit budgeting concerns, or the seller wanted an outrageous price. Maybe in 10 years they will use emanate domain to takeover the tract. Assuming the campus gets built at full scale and they need more land.
  12. Looks like this Mexican restaurant was active in the 1970s. I see a blurb mentioned in the newspaper The Rice Thresher dated December 6, 1979. The business might have been operated longer than that? I see the phone number has a (713) zip code. I don't think that was around in the 1970s. Matchbook found on Ebay! Very cool history here.
  13. I was browsing Ebay for historical Houston items and I came across a very rare item! I've never heard of this restaurant. Very cool history here. Wish I could find actual photos of the drive-in. Anybody know anything about this? Wasn't there a Ace Trailer Park located on South Main Street? I wonder if this was by the same owners or family. Looks like the drive-in restaurant was active in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s? The Ace Drive-In at South Main Airport Houston, Tex. written as The Ace Drive In - at - South Main Air - Port Houston, Tex. Telephone J-2-0087 Cold Drinks Sandwiches Plate Dinners K.C. 14. Alexandria Real Estate Equities, ARE, is another life science focused real estate developer. Would love for them to make a big "splash" and move into the area. Their website lists all the infamous Bio Tech clusters but does not mention Texas, or Houston. Hopefully once all our brand new life science space fills up we will be considered a cluster. Website. https://www.are.com/ ARE had their sites on developing the former Sam's Club on South Loop West but I believe the market went sour so they backed out? They recently completed a Bio Tech Campus located in The Woodlands. Here's the campus at 8800 Technology Forest Place in The Woodlands.
  15. One Discovery Way: Unknown Street: Collaborative Building: Envision Street: Helix Park, section 2: Helix Park, section 3: Helix Park, section 4: Two Discovery Way has been placed on hold? The tower crane base was removed. Mixed-Use Garage:
  16. Went exploring into the woods during a run this past week. Believe I found the CenterPoint/Kinder Morgan pipe lines? Also found a concrete slab. Possibly a plugged well or something similar?
  17. New electrical equipment on site. I also noticed there are trees lining the entire length of Levit Green Blvd. It looks fantastic!!
  18. I had private conversations x2. I was also told there is a new buyer and things will be announced in the upcoming months. Fingers crossed! Also, in the October 2022 TMC BioPort master plan, the final slide alludes to it as well.
