  1. Just chiming in to say that I love Specs midtown. That rabbit rules!
  2. Wild Oats is a smaller national chain of all natural grocery stores. http://www.wildoats.com Their stock ticker is OATS
  3. This is the funniest thing I've read all week!! I can just see him shaking the glass!!
  4. 1. Pei Wei -- I just don't get this place 2. Pronto Cucinino -- Good concept, nice facility, bland food 3. 3-6-9 Chinese Restaurant -- Bland food
  5. Check craigslist - http://houston.craigslist.org/ They have a section for apt/housing... you can always find stuff in there! Good luck!
  6. Not really, those scaredy-cats just live on the 3rd floor of their condos behind their iron gates. Just like the homeless, hookers, etc... the scaredy-cats are there too, although I call them yuppies.
  7. They've been there for years and years. Hey, they still have the Burger King, Taco Cabana and Interfaith Ministries to hang out at...
  8. These guys set up a guerilla art show in one of the locations of the Westheimer Block Party...Looks like they decided to make the most of a bad situation! The artists were Shane Hillman and Eli Brombaugh of Dirty Sunshine!
  9. DOMY! DOMY! DOMY! This store rules!!! I picked up some little toys and checked out all the cool books! They even have FOUND magazine! I hadn't seen that around these parts! Very cool store! I highly recommend it if you like really cool, hip art and toys!
  10. ahhh... the next great fad, a wine bar on every corner!
  11. Wow! El Patio/Club No Minor should work great in that location. Let's hope it does work and that spot isn't an ancient burial ground (thus all the failed establishments.)
  12. The old Texas Balloon & Novelty building has been razed. Any clues as to what will occupy this space? The location is Shepherd & Harold near Westheimer (The Randall's shopping center) http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/3363/96952yo.th.jpg
  13. No, that was the New Radicals - this is a funk/jazz/experimental band with plenty of horns, a kick-ass drummer, some dude on 6 string bass and few other musicians thrown in to round it out. They are good! I caught them at Rudyards and they turned it out!
  14. This will be NOTHING like the Street Festival's of yesteryear. They don't close down Westheimer, these stages will only be around Taft & Westheimer and it's one day only! I'm just glad the Free Press is trying.
  15. The Westheimer Block Party will be held on April 29 roughly between the hours of 1-8pm. Houston
  16. and if you're not worried, have fun with food poisoning!
  17. If you don't see a water hose/water hookup running to those trailers you should STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!! Water is essential to running any type of restaurant, whether it's a sit down restaurant or food trailer. Without water, where do they wash their hands? Granted, they should also have a permit to run their taco stand and should have been inspected by the city before operating. Personally, I don't go anywhere near those roach coaches. I mean, some restaurants aren't any better, but why risk it?
  18. Just popping in to say that I LOVE SPEC's MOTHERSHIP!!!
  19. Popular sentiment but not completely true, although some stuff is environmentally friendly, they still sell stuff in plastic bottles that are hard to recycle and some of the deli containers aren't recyclable. They do, however, compost scraps from produce and the deli. They're not as 'green' as you think. That is, however, how they are perceived. Not true. Everything they sell is free of artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. CM offers the best of both worlds, while WF's offers only natural groceries. You can only compare the two because CM picks up products that WF's carries to compete with them, but CM is a conventional high end market that offers some organic and natural foods. You won't find a lot of the things that CM carries at a WF's though! I share the same sentiments!!
  20. I think people start these "WFM is coming to _______" threads just to watch everyone get riled up.
  21. IF, they get one it will be after 2008. I don't see it happening though. Sugarland, The Woodlands, Clear Lake have been asking FOR YEARS to have a WFM and they aren't getting one any more than The Heights are getting one.
  22. I don't know about 5:30am but from 7-9pm on Wednesday nights you can "get your geek on" with Technology Bytes!! A 2 hour call in computer talk show! Got a computer problem? Mac, Linux or PC? Give 'em a call!!
