  1. Saw a possible drunk or just bad driver in a blk truck who had run off the road by Anvil and ran up onto a short metal pole, guy was stuck.

  2. Thanks! Um, I'm not sure where I was.... after looking at Google Maps, I think I was somewhere off of N. Main near Hogan & South streets.
  3. Here's a shot of downtown I took on Sunday, December 12, 2010. It was such a gorgeous day! http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5289/5275981549_2a12f94a97_z.jpg City Between Bayous by groovehouse, on Flickr
  4. That's just lovely. Midtown is the perfect place for franchised bars and restaurants. It's like a little suburb in the city.
  5. Here are a couple of the crane construction today... PLEASE DO NOT REPOST IMAGES WHEN REPLYING large PLEASE DO NOT REPOST IMAGES WHEN REPLYING There were three guys up there working on this crane!! CRAZY!!! large PLEASE DO NOT REPOST IMAGES WHEN REPLYING I got to meet the owner of 2727 Kirby today. Very nice guy. We talked for about 10-15 minutes, I don't have any insider info, other than this project is a labor of love for him and that he wants to build a beautiful landmark for The Upper Kirby area and Houston. I honestly wish him the best. He did mention that they are going to install a webcam soon! So look forward to that! I know I will.
  6. Here we go! The crane went up today while I was at work! I got out of work and boom! There it was! PLEASE DO NOT REPOST IMAGES WHEN REPLYING large PLEASE DO NOT REPOST IMAGES WHEN REPLYING larger PLEASE DO NOT REPOST IMAGES WHEN REPLYING large PLEASE DO NOT REPOST IMAGES WHEN REPLYING
  7. They have also taken down part of the middle fence, so the whole lot will be used. It was just weird that it was seperated. The crane base is up and standing and I assume the rest of the crane will be assembled soon!
  8. Yup... I hear they are tearing down the whole corner of the block there for the new Whole Foods/mid-rise housing/shopping center!
  9. The crane has arrived!! These photos were taken this morning on my way to work! But they have split the lot. I am not sure what's going on. One half of the lot is fenced and the other half still has HUGE trenches. I am not sure if the full lot is being utilized or just part of it. It's very weird the way it is fenced.
  10. Should've been a complete ban from the very beginning. Austin and NYC both have bans in place and those places are doing just fine.
  11. Wow! Thanks... those are awesome! A friend told me that prior to the 70's Houston was quite a mecca for the psychedelic scene before moving on to places like San Francisco. The 13th Floor Elevators led the way and apparently HPD and others made sure that, their crowd were gently (and not so gently) forced on their way to new meccas. It's nice to see that some of them stayed behind!
  12. Well, well, well... I stand corrected!! My apologies to the kids over at the Hands Up Houston message board! They scooped us! Historic theater could soon fade into history (link to Chron.com}
  13. Time to tear the dome down. It served its purpose and now it's time to go.

  15. The original message is from the Hands Up Houston message board which is basically a kids/young adult message board. I doubt it has validity. The only thing I would take as legit from that board is whether or not Dashboard Confessional, Sufjan Stevens or Death Cab For Cutie was coming to town.
  16. Plunked down a few bucks for a nice seat and went to see The Return of The Rocket. The Astros lost, but we did set a Minute Maid Park attendance record! Click the link to see my photos!
  17. What area of town do you live in?
  18. CVS is the new nail salon/cell phone store/dry cleaners of Houston... they're putting them up everywhere! ENOUGH! oh, we got a mention on the Houstonist!
  19. I think crime has been on the rise in the whole city as well as the past year in The Montrose. I just heard of a friend of a friend getting mugged near Rudyards just a couple of weeks ago! The first time I lived in The Montrose in '91, I felt safe enough to walk the neighboods at night, go out, etc. When I moved back in '04 I still felt safe up until about September of last year...today, not so safe.
