  1. I think its just me, but imo, TMC is getting some repetitive designs....I mean how many recent building have some brown/blue mix in them? There are many examples of this style, especially the new tall one(forgot the name), and Texas Children's Hospital, and a bunch of other ones, as well. We haven't gotten any real glass buildings in TMC like St. Lukes, etc. Sorry, that i didnt clearly express my opinion, but ive seen all these designs before, just one is a little taller, ones a little shorter, one has more glass, one curves, one has a spire with it, but it all boils down to that glass and stone mix thats become a little too fond. But, thats my only complaint, at least TMC is still building.
  2. well im basing it on that commercial that she said "we wont fund any museums or stadiums we cant afford." I did read it carefully, and read the part where the chron says they asked Parker to clarify her position.
  3. We hope to kill many parking lots in this area in the near future. Hopefully the new convention center hotel pulls through.
  4. At first, i though this was the historic Gulf Building. JP Morgan Chase has way too many naming rights on buildings in DT.
  5. I know voting for a candidate based on 1 issue is wrong, but it looks like Locke is pro-stadium development, and Parker isnt... http://blogs.chron.c..._stadium_1.html FYI, the Dynamo are heading to the Western Conference Finals(for the 3rd time in 4 seasons) against the LA Galaxy. Go Dynamo
  6. Wow.....Discovery/Hess Tower definitely looks as tall as OPP, and maybe taller once the top is completed.....
  7. Posted the link i got this pic from originally on the Hess/Disco Tower thread. A picture of Houston's 2 largest construction projects in Downtown. Too bad MP is hiding quite a bit....
  8. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?p=4535633#post4535633 Nice little update from a user on SSP
  9. Maybe the sky garden/lobby will add height. But, i agree very short for 30 stories. But lets wait until it gets topped off, before we complain about the height.
  10. the park/garden resembles Discovery Green a lot. Smaller, but may provide for a more intimate experience. I dont like how Dallas and Houston swap developments and ideas.....Can't they both come up with original ideas on their own? Eh, maybe thats what major cities do.....
  11. Can't let this project slip to the back pages.....so heres a webcam update.
  12. ^^^^ Can someone please snap some shots , next time around. They would be greatly appreciated. Also, i think this is a good thing and a bad thing. I mean the skywalk/tunnel system hasn't had any updated additions in a long time. So this is a good for the office workers, and skywalks just look cool in downtown But, i was hoping, over a period of time, that more and more people would stop using the tunnel system, and thus, increase pedestrian activity. Which is why updated access to this system, wont help the "cause". But, i should know that you cant force people to stop using the tunnel system. Hopefully, the skywalk looks modern, and at this point, what other design would fit this building.
  13. Months ago, when this project went online, i remember reading that this would be Downtown Houston's First 21st Century Architectural Icon. And i couldn't agree more, now. (weren't the former Enron towers built in '03? if so, then maybe this may be up for debate)
  14. I've always like contrasting styles in a skyline. But isn't Embassy Suites going to be more stone than glass? Would it then be too much stone as opposed to glass. Especially since they are all next to each other? Hmm.....But i like ES either way, just wish there was a better rendering. AND thanks for the updates, all.
  15. thanks, the before/after will only get better until after ES, and will be awesome once that new Convention Center Hotel comes along one of these years.....
  16. The time lapse is an awesome tool. And this is GREAT quality cam, the blue crane is nice! heres a picture from the webcam,
  17. well, at least its adding density to the skyline. And once Embassy Suites is completed, i want a before & after shot of Downtown. ( from the area's around DG, and from Jax's skyline shots)
