  2. Sidewalk Network Ordinance Rules: Effective March 1, 2023 The Sidewalk Network Ordinance, which was adopted by Houston City Council on January 25, 2023, went into effect on March 1, 2023. The ordinance applies to new building permit applicants and applicants previously approved for a sidewalk construction deferral. The ordinance gives property owners and developers another option to comply with the City’s existing sidewalk ordinance requirements, while still advancing the City’s goals to create a safe, comfortable, and accessible sidewalk network for all Houstonians. Compliance options include: Construct the required sidewalk. (Refer to Sec 40-553 to find out the development activities requiring sidewalk construction) Construct a sidewalk with modified width if the Sidewalk Committee approves the Sidewalk Standard Modification Application. Pay a Fee in Lieu of Sidewalk Construction if meeting the criteria prescribed on Sec 40-560(b)(1) or Sec 40-561(d). The last option allows property owners and developers to opt out of constructing the required sidewalk and instead pay a Fee in Lieu of Sidewalk Construction for qualifying properties that meet certain criteria such as homes in neighborhoods without existing sidewalks. These fees will be collected for a Sidewalk Fund, which will be used to construct sidewalks that extend the sidewalk network to key destinations. 5. Supply of teachers? I wonder what percentage is number of administrators to teachers🧐 Every Crosby administrator has at least a Bachelor degree in Education.........these qualified persons couldn't'step into the classroom🤨 and of course a creative way to increase teachers salary (😏 oh my$ always hard to discuss) by say ......an ad valorem tax?.....probably would be overall less money for parents who must now pay for childcare? ...... any school, county or city "tempus tributum" could have been brought force? Any Crosby administrator contemplating raising teachers salaries 🥰to draw in more teachers? guess not, since 4 day week was pass by vote to be the correct solution. but....dare I even bring it up? ..😟.....surely my "elder" brain isn't the only one to wonder about this......Did Crosby school board try anything " innovative" " out of the box" ideas? Perhaps sponsoring ( vetting, supporting) degreed educators that are Among the kazillion immigrants that come over the boarder looking for a new chance. Seriously that rare thing ( Hope regular ole people hoping to find a job in education) does exist......Teachers and Education Counselors and School principals ARE part of those immigrants......…………………any outreach from Crosby?…………probably never occurred to them……………A four day school week was what they settled on………hmmmm why?🫤 four-day school week is a much more complicated, chaotic event than people think sigh
  6. I was puzzled ( go smacked) that after hours, days, weeks and months of consideration .......a four day school week was the solution?

  15. Not exactly protecting- just an alternative after a heritage tree has died......this is in Houston
  16. Just a side note here. Fifteen years ago, Avondale Civic Neighborhood on Fairview, was discussed with huge it's huge utility poles. There was all kinds of graffiti, trash talk all kinds of things scribbled on them. The 100 year anniversary for avondale was getting close and a board member contacted Centerpoint to point out this problem. Centerpoint came and repainted the poles from ground up - seven feet. you could have knocked me over with a feather .
  17. Drove by at Waughcrest and Westheimer and noticed this...........I always like a photo contest
  18. I am resistant to try and explain why I will miss KPFT in my neighborhood-- I think I have written how demolishing houses and businesses here in Montrose with the same ole same ole boxy structures saddens me haunts me really that so many, many components of my my past are disappearing. I wonder ( not just for KPFT) if some those iconic " parts of the myth- that together wove Montrose to be Montrose can be salvaged or up cycled? " Montrose" ...the originalMontrose might be a myth-- memories evolve and become what we want them to be. Yelp it was many many years ago- No it will never be what it was........still I wonder-do developers ever consider preserving just enough of the place.....just enough....to make it appear that what ever Montrose was is uh... evolving and not just be removed and demolished? Does that sort of " Outside the box" thought ever seep into the developers minds? And if not.... why not? Isn't there value in advertising new builds as being located within"Montrose" what are those advertisements actually promising? Is Montrose still Montrose? I am just numb that it is all about the money....not about beginning to preserve just a little of the myth.....the architecture, the notoriety? Having a notion to tweak, up-cycle and redesign ; stepping up to embracing unique answers to odd existing buildings----deciding to save a small bit of what is left? There are absolutely no developers that regard those places, are what that made Montrose- Montrose....? What could be sadder? Soon Montrose becomes just another ubiquitous suburb like all the others. yup I am sad to see KPFT go.
  19. Editors/ Moderators could this thread be renamed Baba Yega the last part of title- "new construction on Stanford and gray " seems confusing now. Thanks cheers
