  1. I would build that grand central terminal just north of downtown, in Main Street, which would provide for the following: Red Line (expanded) Sugarland Commuter Rail Northwest Commuter Rail Gulf Corridor Commuter Rail Amtrak Greyhound Other Bus lines Then, I would build a very tall "space needle" like thing, maybe where the current Central Post Office is located.
  2. Next: YAKS. I think Tillman has finally lost it.
  3. Yes. Houston is cruised. Back in the 80's, Westheimer was a favorite cruising strip with many people lining the streets, watching cars cruise on by. Memorial Park, during that same era, also was a favorite cruising location for the Hispanic community, where many nice girls would dress in skimpy decor on Sunday evenings, waiting for the cars' occupants cruising by to take notice. I know I did.
  4. The thing about Dallas is that they have a really nice rail transit system. I used to drive to Dallas every other week during the late 80's, to see my then girlfriend. I know things have certainly changed there. But, the one thing that still baffles me is why Houston does NOT have AT LEAST as nice of a rail system. I dont see near the traffic and congestion in Dallas that I see in Houston. It seems like Houston needs it a helluvalot more. It's almost like Dallas built the thing as much for the image of an urban setting and maybe not too much because they actually NEEDED it. Meanwhile, Houston needs in a big way and it doesnt have it. Go figure.
  5. Can you tell me more or less what the range of prices are for dinner at Mia Bella? Thanks.
  6. Actually, I find this topic uninteresting. I'm bored. But hey, thanks for dropping by.
  7. Wow Citykid. I will have to handed it to you. Those are some of the coolest Houston pics I've seen yet. Thanks.
  8. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA HAHAHAHAHAHAH I'm just KIDDING!!!! Sorry. Sometimes it seems even "EYE" take myself too seriously...
  9. ....too much time on my hands.... ....too much time on my hands.... heheh. Sorry, had a STYX retro moment. Laiders.
  10. I didn't really understand what you said. Please rephrase.
  11. Lets just agree to dissagree. Sorry. I just HAD to use that cheesy phrase at least once! Speaking of cheese, I was in the Rice Village, had a bite at "Mi Luna", enjoyed my walks around the different shops....and then.....I ran up against that disgusting drive through banking establishment right on University and Morningside. It sticks out way out of place there. At least the CVS in Midtown has some continuity with it's neigbors. The bank I'm talking about really sucks.
  12. ....and.....what are you wearing?
  13. We have heat. We have humidity. We have the Galleria. Nuf-said. Really, there is plenty of stuff in Uptown. You want pedestrian activity? Look no further than INSIDE the Galleria. What, 400+ high-end retailers? That's pretty damne fantastic if you ask me. I have 13 relatives from Mexico City flying down this thanksgiving SPECIFICALLY to do thier big shopping for the year. They chose Houston not just to spend time with us, but because of our premier shopping experience in the Uptown area. Look and listen around next time your in uptown...you hear all kinds languages and you can feel the international component. We ARE a shopping mecca. We dont need to become something completely different, not really. We are who we are. And that's ok, nothing wrong with that.
  14. Because were special, were different, and, dogonnit, people LIKE us.
  15. Dear Citykid, Again, your uncomfortableness with the reality is showing. I understand it
  16. Lets just give Drumguy a minute to calm down. He
  17. Great example Semipro. Sometimes, people need examples to make things clearer. Take care.
  18. I really will miss KLOL. It was my friend during the mid to late eighties, and beyond, when I first moved to Houston. 93.7 just doesnt capture the same feeling. It was sorta like 97Rock in many ways. It is also hard to accept that, really, that era is dissipating to some extent. Guess I'm getting old! This sucks. ....get your nasty asses to the house.... ....have you ever THOUGHT about doing it with another woman?...
  19. I miss Stevens and Pruett, the uncle-waldo adventures, and tacky-trivia. I will miss Outlaw Dave and uncle Nasty, and of course all the great rock and roll that I grew up with. I am truly sad that KLOL had to go. This reminds me of when 97-ROCK went off the air: another great radio station from the 80
  20. Had awesome tapas at "Mi Luna" in the Rice Village. Ordered the Garlic Shrimp and the Empanadas. Man, that was some great food! Definitely going back there.
  21. Somebody please speak on my behalf. I dont have the energy for this.
