  1. They are in a downward spiral. I saw one of their reporters using a bucket as a prop. And how about those Sunday newcasts where Rachel McNeil does the entire broadcast? I think they have better news in Tyler.
  2. Good lord, young man! Nobody asked for a cost analysis. Copgo simply asked what people think about the house. I think it's a bit boring for the price. And the the stucco/brick/tile combo seems to have an identity crisis. Why cheap-out with stucco?
  3. Not really. Look at the existing housing stock in the inner city. Talk about out of fashion. Why do you think we see so many teardowns? This is not limited to the burbs.
  4. I don't know what's worse, the felling of all those trees, or that fake tidy bowl lake across the street.
  5. Thanks for posting. In the second opinion, it's dissapointing to see The Chron once again get excited about our "renowned performing arts". Of all these experts only Klineberg seems to get the education component. That's the most critical. The Chron is wrong in saying how Houston "built their neighborhoods distant from their jobs and their shopping needs". Houston didn't do that, the burbs did. Most burbs are in unincorporated Harris County or edge cities. What happened is Houston lost an opportunity to keep it's people. Famalies won't just stay in the city becuase of "renowned performing arts." They need education for their children.
  6. Is New Urbanist the new "Cookie Cutter" {concept} for the new millenia? Also, can anyone find the editioral from yesterday's Chron? It was somewhat related to the current debate and worth a read. I can't seem to find it today.
  7. If things keep up Washington Ave. will earn a nickname. How about UpWa and LoWa? j/k
  8. Please tell me this is fake: Snow Mountain project slated for Houston, Texas An exciting new snow-themed development for Houston, Texas has been unveiled by Unlimited Snow for Houston, Texas. http://skirebel.com/magazine/2007/07/05/sn...-houston-texas/ Grand Texas Riverwalk? Is that what they plan to call the new Dome?
  9. So are the are nice looking houses with yard parkers? Most I see look like dumps.
  10. Ilona Carson is the cheif freakazoid robot in residence at Ch. 13. She's got JRS.
  11. Sounds like Bob Perry is at work. Gotta feed both sides.
  12. Those are the type kids who should sign a waiver before entering a "normal person's house". But this is really nothing new. You can actually call your airline and request a "peanut free" flight.
  13. Chase Tower did the same thing recently with a bunch of trees. Looks nice. I watched them build the 1301 McKinney area when I was in 2 Houston Center. But why should the smokers get all the cool spots to hang? They should have to smoke while standing in a puddle of bum tinkle. Smokers were a big problem at 2 Houston Center.
  14. We got this email today: The building ownership and Hines are working with a large group of consultants to redevelop the plaza. The new plaza will include a large water feature, extensive landscaping and outdoor seating; construction should begin in late October and we expect it to be completed by the Spring of 2008. Renderings of the project will be on display in the main lobby later this summer. We will provide you with additional information and project schedule updates as the project progresses.
  15. I'd vote for Right Said Fred if I didn't love him so much.
  16. In a modern society, even if you don't use credit, you still benefit from it. On a related note, in Big D, you can charge your offering to the church. That's just oh-so Dallas. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...ing.7903c9.html
  17. You can't argue that Hakeem still benefits from other's line of credit.
  18. It would be cool to see Hakemm give something back to Houston. Liike the old guys who built this city back in the day. Maybe he does but I have missed it. Granted he did give Houston two NBA Championships and two NCAA near misses. We had a Muslim coworker in London who use a scheme that does allow them to finance a house. But technically it's not financing. And who's hating on flippers? But there does seem to be two kind of flippers: the sitter/flippers and the fixer/flippers.
  19. I work in this building. Can't say I'll really miss it. You actually hardly even notice it, but a lot of people do stop by and snap pictures. They needs some plants and benches in its place.
