  1. Watching it now. They show a lot of Houston, great shots....lots of skyline. They just showed them house hunting. The husband wanted the house in Sugar Land and the wife wanted to live "in the loop."
  2. I had a bunch of friends who went to this and I probably would have had I been in town. I think they are making it a bigger deal than it was. Any bar in Midtown with a person working the door is going to have a strict guy/girl ratio policy. People just sometimes like to stir the pot when there is no need for it.
  3. This area has always had problems with grafitti but over the past month or so it has gotten really bad. Looks horrible.
  4. lol...when I first moved to Houston 3 years ago, one of my first dates was with somebody I met at the W. Gray Kroger.
  5. Yeah, LIDS, Journey Shoes, and BCBG are all open on the 3rd floor. BCBG is the only one with signs on the 1st floor saying they are open. It is a sharp looking store.
  6. You should see the parking garage I park in downtown after a Rockets game. Those people relieving themselves are not homeless...as is obvious by them getting into their big SUVs after they are done. I have gone to school and lived in downtown for 3 years now. I don't think it is that big of a problem. I can count on both hands the number of times I have been asked for money in that 3 years. Granted I don't really ever get over to the specific area you seem to be talking about.
  7. I agree! You do great night shots photolitherland! When you come back to town, if you happend to get some night shots of the River Oaks Theater and the Uptown Skyline with the Christmas lights I would not be upset....LOL.
  8. VIP room at the HOB. You have to buy a membership and are allowed to bring a limited number of guest with you depending on which level you get.
  9. I agree. As a young professional also, I can say that the HOB is very popular among the demographic. I think if you go and look at the HOB list of performances, you will see most of them are not "hip hop". It will even get better once Pete's opens. Always a hit with the young professionals.
  10. Anybody watching? On Univision. Looks pretty cool.
  11. Maybe I did take it a bit over-the-top by using "hate" but I was really disappointed at the moment. Why doesn't a gay couple declaring a lasting union in front of anyone differ from a straight couple declaring a lasting union if front of everyone. I promise both will have cake and be going on a honeymoon. jk. But seriously, marriage has become a gov't institution. It is controlled by the gov't. I have no problem with keeping a religious ceremony btw a man and a woman but until the gov't gives up its control of marriage and just does civil unions, it is discrimination. It is true the majority voted but you really agree that we should be voting on a person's rights and liberties? I am sure in 1965 if you had held a vote on the segregation of schools you would have had a majority of the vote for it but that certainly does not make it right.
  12. Not to get all personal, but man, this really hurts. I was really counting on CA. It is just hard for me to understand how people can have so much hate when I grew up with so much love from my friends and family. I guess this is the real world. Just hard to understand. I agree with you BryanS, we should not be voting on people's fundamental rights. Allowing it hurts nobody, banning it hurts many.
  13. CNN reported that 66% of the 18-29 yo group voted Obama.
  14. Obama, and like Porchman, the Supreme Court was a major factor for me. One more Scalia-like justice would be truely detrimental to the judicial system.
  15. I moved out of the HH in March after living there 2 years. Like everybody else is saying, it is mainly problems you would expect from an old building. Water issues i.e. I about once a month there would be no water or 3 times my neighbors garbage disposal would empty into my bathroom sink. Yeah gross. The pool, weight room, and other public areas are old and out of date. You will never want to use them. Kitchen is VERY small and appliances are old. It was like pulling teeth to get things fixed around there but it is a big building and so the crew is really pushed to meet everybody's needs. Good things: Price, LOCATION, Wanda and Debbie who work there, mini-grocery store/grill on first floor. Parking for guest is not bad. Usually not hard to find a place. The balconies are big and great for entertaining. Amazing views. Never had a bug problem. Other residents are very friendly. A nice mix. Very old to very young, students to professionals.
  16. I saw 3 people who looked to be tourist walking away from HP yesterday. They were carrying bags from not only BAM and Forever 21 but Macy's bags too. Good sign.
  17. I noticed it a few nights ago. I like the new lighting and hope they keep it. Looks really sharp.
  18. Fortunately, the RIGHT of marriage is Constitutionally protected. It was recognized by the Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia. Come on now. And why do you care? It hurts NOBODY!
  19. Last night, the blue lights on the top of the Continental building were white. I had never seen this before but it looked really sharp.
  20. She just said she wanted to continue Cheney's attempt to expand the powers of the VP and that the Constitution allows for it! Now that is scary.
  21. It is like putting the cookies out before dinner and saying wait until after dinner! Too hard to resist!
  22. I agree, I think she is doing a good job. BUT the problem is she is doing a good job while not answering the questions. She goes way off into left field. And I agree with you 20th, the way she says certain words is driving me up the wall! Joe is kinda dry, and like I believe Mascbro said in the main thread, too "statesman like". And he needs to stop referring to himself in 3rd person. CNN has the Ohio uncommitted voters reaction monitor on the bottom of the screen split into men and women, the men seem to like Palin while the women seem to favor Biden. Just interesting to me.
  23. Glitz and glamour? Since when? I played more of my highschool football games in Texas Stadium than in our school stadium. At first we were really excited but then we realized what a dump it was. Horrible. Being from the area I am happy for the Cowboys and the people of Arlington. It is going to be an amazing place however there is no need to trash other cities. Just remember, somebody is always going to build something better within a few years.
