Actually it was central to your post. Mine was about a tree, a father, and a son. And yes, getting access to the site is going to be the best way to get to the Exxon/Mobil trailers to do your fact checking. But it is easier to sit there and say it's not true because you found an article on the internet that has nothing to do with this project. You have no idea about their spending on this project and the ridiculous amounts of money spent that didn't need to be. Reply if you like but I won't be visiting this site again to see it. With Respect,

I suppose I should have left out the part where he tells me it cost over a million. I don't know what the cost of transplanting a tree is and really couldn't care less, so I won't argue with you on that. I do believe the gentleman in regards to why the tree was preserved. And if you don't believe the tree "story" then see about getting an attended visitor pass. Or you could get a permanent ID/Badge like I did.

I was skimming through some old posts and ran across this one. About 6-8 weeks ago I was speaking with two gentlemen with Exxon/Mobil at their new campus (not in the construction area, though) and one of them brought up this development. We were on the topic of nature and wildlife conservation and the effort E/M put in to preservation and relocation of animal and habitat. I asked about all that land and he said a deal was made with a developer to build homes and communities but E/M won't have anything to do with it. So I'm guessing they made a deal and now don't have to worry about overseeing the development. An other bit of interesting info: One of the 'higher-ups' at E/M used to spend time with his son in the area of construction and there was a tree that marked the area they frequented. This very large tree was transplanted to the middle of the E/M campus at a cost of over 1 mill. by the somewhat famous company out of Tomball. It is called the "career end'r", referring to what some would speculate would happen if you did something to the tree. It's fenced off until construction is finished, of course. Anyway, my apologies for digging up old threads...

If you look closely at the concrete roof cap on the three garages you will see what will eventually be a scaled image of Google Earth view of Galveston Bay, Ship Channel, and I think the Galveston Causeway. It's a clear coating with colored silica and quartz embedded that make the color pattern. Absolutely tedious work. The cost is incredible, as you can imagine.

This is moving right along. Plans are at 100% Construction for the 21-story high rise apartment building (a total of 232 units). This project is a Joint Venture between Pepper-Lawson and The Hunt Companies in which Pepper-Lawson is the managing party. Also the budget is just shy of 70 million. Anticipated start date is early July.

In the picture above you can see the attached parking garage that will actually recess in to the building foot print about 20' up to level 3. The garage goes around the back and turns to the left of the building, terminating even with the building elevation. That is the white stone arches you see to the left in the picture above. Retail space starts at those arches and goes back approx. 80' (this is actually park of the garage structure. I like what they did there, much more aesthetically pleasing than your typical precast garage.

It is The Woodlands Army Reserve Center. Satterfield & Pontikes Federal Div. is handling it, so that is why you are probably not getting much info if you are calling/emailing them. I haven't seen drawings on this in almost two years but at the time the building with the rounded roof had an entire level below grade. I didn't understand the reasoning for it. It wasn't reinfored structurally to act like a bomb shelter. And like I said, it's a Federal job. You better bet it's going to take much longer to build compared to...well anything else. Haahaha!

Exactly. The tunnel connects to two large kitchens, among many other things. The typical tunnel has a 3'6" thick slab, 2'2" thick walls, and a 3' thick cap. The inside will measure 32' horizontal and 16' vertical.

The entire footprint of the building will have a 4' (approx) below grade crawl space. This scope of work should already have began, if it hasn't finished. Now the above grade vertical phase is almost done being contracted. It shoud start moving along quickly soon.

Five Oaks Place/Woodside: Office Tower At 1500 Post Oak Bvd.
houstontx replied to fernz's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
30 story with a 7 story parking garage. The drawings reflect the rendering that Houston 19514 posted. DE Harvey is looking to be busy again in the future: Anadarko II, Exxon/Mobil, 1500 Post Oak, and a few others in the works.- 594 replies

Security is very tight. You have to get background check clearance just to be able to go in the job site offices. I doubt you will see many pictures unless someone sneaks a few with their cell phone. The next phase of about 15 office buildings is underway. There will be over 20 tower cranes up at one time
